Rosh Hashanah and Sukkot were around that time, that's a pretty big deal.

I'm not making excuses for him or justifying his actions, just saying that that's probably what he was celebrating.

The really jewish places in NYC (like deli's) say on their website that they will be closed for particular holidays. And if they want to keep up a proper web business, they probably need a Shabbat goy to help out.

They would have lost a total of 8 business days due to Rosh Hashanah / Yom Kippur / 4 "Yom Tov" days from Sukkot / Simchat Torah. That's still no excuse. Even if it was that big of a problem, they should've made a disclaimer on their site like every other Jewish owned site does.

My goodness - to think I very nearly placed an international order with these morons, it was only the fact that their payments system didn't properly handle AVS for international orders - and rejected two of my cards - that put me off. I was initially a bit sceptical at the exposé on this outfit as we've seen any number of rows with retailers on here, but their response is priceless and not just for the quality of the English.

So, thank you to this forum for saving me some grief. I think the best thing we could do having silenced them is not to add them to the "banned vendors" list - after all, they are not in conflict with this forum - but perhaps to make this thread sticky for a few months... help them out... out of where I'm not sure.

If you ordered coals and they ended up sending you an inferior product instead saying it was just as good or better, you ordered from Hookahset, bro!

Haha, thanks for the plug. ;-) I haven't posted much on the forums lately, I've been busy and enjoying the hookah I purchased. Fortunately, there are plenty of other hookah vendors out there, and 5 star seems to be doing a fine job. We'll see in the future. And there's always the good ol' standby hookahjohn. I guess, having too much business is bad problem to have, luckily Hookahset knows how to fix it.

It very well could have been a child to write that. A couple of times when I called Hookahset, a child answered somewhere between 8-12 from the sound of his voice. I should have took that as an omen, but I understand many people have their kids work for them. Especially up here in Idaho.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER.  I ordered several items from this company on March 15th, while placing the order I selected that I wanted any items on backorder to be cancelled and I selected to receive priority 1-3 day shipping. Then, March 20th I received a voicemail stating that they had the order on hold because one of the items were on backorder so they were waiting for my permission to cancel it. I told them I select to cancel any backorder and they respond with "Well, it doesn't work that way".  Okay, if it doesn't work that way DON'T MAKE IT AN OPTION. I then went on to state my frustration that it had been 5 days and the maximum amount of time the shipping should take was 3 days and my order still hadn't completed processing. To resolve the issue, they told me they were sorry and they would be mailing out the package that evening and that the package should arrive Tuesday March 24th at the latest.

On March 23rd I called because I still have not received a tracking number and the order still says "processing" on their website, they assure me the package had shipped on the 20th and that it will be there by tomorrow and she will send the tracking number today. NO tracking number and order still says processing though!!! On March 24th, I still didnt receive the package so I call again when I notice they haven't charged me yet. They then tell me that my credit card was not charged due to a new carrier they were using (it took 9 days to learn this). She also explained to me that the order had been shipped but they called the carrier to stop the order because it had not been paid for so I told her I shouldn't have to suffer for something her companies fault.  She offers me 15% off my next order and I laugh at her because I got a code for 20% off on the website and basically said that was a bullshit offer, so she hung up on me!  I call back and argue with her again and she got the worst attitude with me and refused to tell me where my package was after I repeatedly asked her (She wouldn't tell me because it hadn't actually been shipped yet!!)  She then proceeded to offer to refund me and call to have her products sent back so "we don't have to deal with this and can just hang up and have a nice day"  Okay, sorry you don't want to deal with your customers but I still want my shit!!!!! After she hung up, she charged my card and I received tracking number that evening telling me that my package was scanned at local USPS facility at 9 pm on the 24th (when it was supposed to be scanned on the 20th) and that it should arrive the 27th, 12 days after I placed the order when I paid for 1-3 days shipping!!!!!1! Therefore, the company has been consistently to me.  DON'T PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY IF YOU WANT TO RECEIVE YOUR PRODUCTS ON TIME!

You're preaching to the choir here.  Hookahset is a banned vendor for this very reason.  They have great prices but there's a pretty good chance something wrong will happen with the order.  I'll order from them but write in the order notes to call me if there's any issue with the order and there always is.  They'll call me, give some excuse, and we'll try to figure out what to do next.  I've ordered from them several times and have NEVER had an issue-free order and don't expect to get anything from them in a timely manner.

 

Also, I feel bad for not answering the questions about Jewish holiday stuff from earlier in this thread.  Passover, Rosh Hashanah, and Sukkot are considered the 3 "major" holidays for Jews.  Passover and Sukkot are 8 day holidays where the first 2 and last 2 days are considered a "Yom Tov" which are treated like the Sabbath but you are allowed to cook and carry (yes, seems trivial but there's a whole slew of Jewish law of what/when/how you can carry items on the Sabbath.)  Rosh Hashanah is a 2 day holiday and Yom Kippur is a single day.  The issue with them not operating on these days is that work is explicitly forbidden on Sabbath.  Being in temple praying all day is not why they can't work.
