alex.padmore
I have to say, having just got mine and testing it with AF (tangiers in the post) i think that 2 full cocos is too much heat. I used 3 half CCNs and had to take one off half way through the first round and i was getting good clouds.. And correct me if im wrong but doesn't tangiers need less heat than AF..? claytronmeans
Sorry, but my crown micro has absolutely replaced my Tangiers small. I get around two and a half hours out of tangiers (Four rounds of split coconara's) with clouds only very slightly smaller than my small. The small increase in clouds with the Crown to Tangiers is not worth 2x the coal per round, and 4x the shisha per session.
Zildjian
im still testing, like i said. And I AM using less coal, but also needing more heat. More experiments to come tonight! And dont be sorry dave, I'm not saying anyone is WRONG. Opinions are like assholes, as they say.
claytronmeans
I'm not Dave, you big silly. Also, the sorry was more towards Katie. Dave and I get perfect sessions with Tangiers, and AF with one split coal. I pack it very tight and high, use the foil test and smooth the shisha out and then foil. Put on two halves, and a windcover and it's good to go until the next round of coals 9/10 times.
Zildjian
sorry saw the pic and it was 2nd nature. you know i love you more clay. i think the windcover will be the kicker though.
Zildjian
welp clay is right. 2 halves under a wind cover smokes very well. next time i may try 2 whole on the narrow side under the wind cover cuz cutting coal is annoying as balls
Coyote
If you pack your Tangiers phunnel denser on the outside wall of the bowl you will need less coals... just sayin'. Also, making sure the foil comes down about 2/3s of the base of the phunnel will help maintain heat.... thus saving more coals.
Zildjian
uhhhh noted...ill get my micrometer next time i pack a bowl. anyways another issue I have with this glass bowl (i feel like a harpy) is that since it doesnt go down far on the grommet, by the time i am done smoking a session the bowl has actually turned nearly sideways and was hanging on by a thread (actually if my windcover wasnt on it probably would have hit the ground). Oh wells. I always have the weirdest issues it seems lol

Even though the bowl fits perfectly well on my qt, it slips gradually and barely stays on it by the end of the session. I've resolved to using a paper towel gasket for the same. Chreees
PAPER TOWEL GASKET SAVES THE DAY AGAIN! As it always does...
poncho
I've had success with taking some sand paper, 100 grit and up and sanding the inside edge of the base of the bowl, making it rough, and helping it stay on the grommet better.
