cymptom
I completely agree. Tangiers smokes best with the Japanese Canary Goldens. 3 or 4 of them around the edges works great.

ksblazer
Funny you mention this. I just completed a trade and got some japanese golden coals along with some Tangiers Passion fruit and it was very tasty. I was blowing clouds of smoke and the flavor was on, plus I think they burned a little longer than my 3 kings and as mentioned needed less maintenance. I was kind of worried about trying Tangiers as I've heard it is sensitive to heat but this combo smoked great from start to finish.
Sonthert
Yeah, I recommend the use of Japanese coals. They may not be healthier, but they burn cooler and makes heat management easier. I do find people who report great results from natural coals and I have used and had good results with natural coals, as well as gunpowder disks, but I firmly stand behind the Japanese coals. Edit: Thats not to say they are less healthy.
Calcartman
Tangiers; the only problem I find myself having with the japanese coals is that it takes a long time for them to get completely lit, because any little bit of the silver coating makes your smoke taste like.... well, shit. cymptom
I mean it's not like lighting a quicklight, but you can get one side glowing in about 30 seconds maybe? A little blowing and you're ready to go.
