S3cretz
I was Packing a bowl in a room with a carpet today and noticed that the better the smoke the higher the carpet risk. Think about it 2 coals , 2 halves or a full coal 2 halves is usually ideal for clouds but if they were to fall youd have to save the carpet from 2 coals if there was just one you could grab it before too much damage could be done. And then comes the windcover argument shure a windcover is a failsafe but if you keep it on too long your shure to get a harsh bowl. Theres alot more id like to say but I dont feel like typing something tl;dr And this is just all assuming you dont have something to protect your carpet. Your opinions? Moki
I have like 5 holes in carpet that I've got 9 months ago. Damn, I'm awful. Anyway, maybe you can try to find working windcover-number of coals ratio.
vendetta_revived
Just get a cheap rug to keep under your hookah. 2 halves/fulls are not only good for clouds, but also make for better heat management.
Skoozle
Rugs are a good investment for your smoking area if you have carpet or wood floors. Then you can have a little piece of mind while you smoke.
ChicagoRSX
Yeah, I've had that happen to me once or twice, luckily for the most part I have been using 1 QL coal up until recently. I'm going to be getting an area rug for the main room I smoke in.
herbalsmoke
I need to get a cheap rug for when i smoke hookah, my hardwood floors have black dots and holes from where i dropped my coals . My mother was not happy about this, at all.
joelhookah
Cheap rugs from thrift stores/yard sales are the deal. My problem is the whenever the coals fall, they explode like a cluster bomb and decimate my carpet.

joelhookah
Anytime the coals have gotten knocked over(except by me being absent minded while sober) it is always when I have made a few people over and it's always a chick. Not always a drunk one either.
Chreees
I do two Cocomazayas on a Tangiers Mini Phunnel most of the time. On both of my hookahs the trays are large enough so that if you tap a coal off, it will fall into the tray, not the floor. Also, I place my hookah on a towel in case anything does fall. Which it has, despite the large trays and everything. Thank god for that towel.
atalanta
I would say, if you're going to get a rug for under your hookah, get a wool rug. Wool will smoulder and not burn (which is why race car drivers wear wool suits). Fireplace rugs are made out of wool, if they're not cheap garbage. I just dropped my first coal and now the living room carpet has a nice scorch mark. Future project is replace the carpet so I'm not too worried. I bought an inexpensive wool rug for the kitties for when we have a place with a fireplace (on sale, $20). Maybe I should put that down.

joelhookah
Wool rug is on the shopping list. Found one on the local craigslist, but they want $40. Might offer $20 if it hasn't sold by the 15th.

Coyote
I use one of these under mine: Its pretty good incase a coal gets bumped off the bowl/out of the tray. However, I have a few burns on the hardwood from where I drop them next to the burner, or drop them on the way of the bowl, or where they have rolled under the table... good thing I'm a renter otherwise I would have to buy an area rug... and fire insurance. I used one box and that that silver stuff is still all over all my stuff and all up in my computer. I like they way they burn but geez, what a mess.
