Moose
They worked great. Smoke was good, they lasted decently, and two coals is perfect for my current bowl.

Moose
Shipping is too much with how little I have to spend. This is why I haven't tried Tangiers yet, because my local place doesn't carry them, and why I hadn't tried coconut coals until now (they just got some in) Edited December 5, 2011 by Moose
grock
Actually shipping isnt that bad. Also, prices are normally cheaper than what local stores sell products as. At least in my case it is. Locally, AF sells for $17. Fantasia sells for $21. Tangiers, doesnt even sell around here. :/ Online, AF $12. Fantasia $16. Tangiers $12 Coals are also cheaper. Shipping is normally around $10 for smaller orders, and arrives fast if you find a good website. It really balances out, Id look around online. First time I order online I'll be getting Tangiers, of course =P But when I'm pretty much broke, and spend $30 a week on it, an extra $10 would mean that much less shisha. On a side note, one of the best shisha values I've seen has been in a local store (30 miles away). $10 for 250g of AF, $7 for 250g of Nakhla. Not sale prices, those are always their prices. I wish it was closer @_@
Moose
Whoops... don't see an edit feature... (or the post is too old to edit or whatever), I spend $30 a MONTH on shisha and coals, not $30 a week XD That'd be like 500g with coals a week smoked @_@ Edited December 5, 2011 by Moose
Chreees
Another one sees the light... I can get Coconaras locally for $12 per 108 count box, but I mostly order online and get Cocomazayas. I just recently got three boxes of Razan coals, however.

Even still, with discount codes, shipping is not a big deal. With that said, I have only made 3 online orders in the past 2 years since I started buying hookah stuff. atalanta
I can get coals locally, 108 CCN for $15. The tobacco they carry is also on par with online prices, but its StarBuzz so a little pricy. There is a vendor at haflas that sells shisha (AF? Al Amir?) that is much cheaper, I bought a box and my windcover from them. For me, I'd rather not online buy coals unless I have a super huge order that get to "free shipping" otherwise, IMO it's not cost effective. A13lackFish
I typically buy a 108 count box of Hookah Johns Chronic Hookah Coals for $8 a box. I would love to see someone beat that price
claytronmeans
When you've been doing it for a while, you'll start ordering 24 boxes at a time. Ok maybe not, maybe Dave and I are just fucking nuts. But indeed, coconut coals are the best.

Coyote
I think I got some AF naturals from Chrreeeeeeeesssssss once... and they were OK but I didn't prefer them. I was using ccn but i'm pretty sure they changed (my NOVA friends concur, correct?) I started using CH and I like them. They don't burn as hot which is good for Tangiers, they ash less, they last longer... I don't know about consistancy because I'm only on my first box but I'm ordering another few boxes soon and will let you know. Sometimes I used Golden Canarys or Fumaris which are even lower heat but they make a huge mess.

So sucky I can't recommend them... I think those were just a hella good batch that Jay got (and then he sent a ton to me when he decided to start using Golden Canaries exclusively). If they were making them good and making them good consistently, they'd be a good contender in the coconut coal market. Oh well. I'd also like to say that I feel Golden Canaries and Fumaris not only make a mess, but they aren't too great for brands of tobacco other than Tangiers. In other words, I'd only use them with Tangiers. And then there's all my other points, but I won't get into it since this thread is about coconut coals... Floataround
I usually use Coco Cubes..but also use the flats depending on what I am smoking and the bowl. I always have to order them, usually from H-S. But I am debating trying either CH coals or the cocomazays next just to experiment.

Typically makes life easier just having them on hand so I don't have to post an order every month.
