1St Timer's 2Nd Buy.

I'm new to the Hookah scene, and I made the mistake of getting a cheap Hookah from a local store. The dreaded pumpkin Hookah strikes again! I enjoyed it 5-8 times but after 15 uses this thing has rusted terribly inside the what I call a Bell.

I've been looking at getting myself a 2nd Hookah, since I did enjoy the first one so much. But I felt I might screw up again without the insight of more experienced Hookah users.

I got a list of a few Hookahs I am interested in getting, but not sure of the quality and effectiveness in the smoke production and taste.

I know I want to get a Nammor hose. I use a screen for my QL coals, and I've been smoking Hydro Herbal molasses.

If some one could just get me headed in the right direction.

I do clean my Hookah after each use, and only twice did I leave water in the base overnight. But the Pumpkin has rusted inside where the Hose and Valve and stem all are...

I need your help!

Which one of these would you recommend?
Is there another Hookah you would suggest?

My price point is 80-90 dollars. I might have to hold off and save to get an Higher priced one. Edited by Uxe

I would hold off and either buy a Mya, Khalil Mammoon, or a Syrian. These are my personal preferences, but all 3 have never given me a bad smoke.

I would say to avoid the ones your looking at and save up for more, as for like 20-50 dollars more you can obtain a much better hookah.

As for your QL screen, have you ever considered using natural lights? They work much better, leave no flavor in the shisha, and are generally a brilliant idea.

For a hose a Nammor or Narbish are your best bet for washables, both are equal, and both work great.

For shisha, since I cant imagine you using tangiers to begin, I recommend looking into the brands Nakhla, Al Fakher, and Fantasia. All great brands, and all affordable (in the order I gave Nakhla being the lowest price).

Otherwise enjoy :)

I really liked this one as well, but the price was alittle out of reach.. I don't really want a 30+ inch hookah in fact 22-26 inch seems fine to me, but this is 29. Lol just cuts under 30.

I also don't seem to Like the way the Large Mya's look either.. and as for Syrian the Engineer is out of stock D: too. Edited by Uxe

Got to agree, Nammor makes some good pipes but MYA is a great brand for not too expensive. I would suggest switching to naturals unless there is some reason you cant. Agree on hoses but would like to add some others. I hear Nazar has some good hoses also and im a big fan of the Fancy hose (nuhose) just a cheap disposable that you can use for a long time. AS for tobacco, lots of people aren't huge hydro fans, I think its hit and miss with them. Nakhla and Al Fakher are great tobaccos, and tangiers is amazing. Hope this helps :D

I sometimes put tea in the base when I smoke with the Hydro and it really kicks the flavor.

What about Mini Mya's? I dont' like the larger ones, but some of the smaller ones look nice.

Or what about the Econo Mya's..

I would suggest that you look at some other online vendors as well. I did a quick look around at hookah company and found a hookah that I think is of higher quality and better priced.

I always suggest looking at some good local vendors, but being in SC, you may not have any good options. Also, keep your eye on the trades section.

Here is one that I would buy if I had to right now in your price range:

http://www.hookahcom...h_6117_prd1.htm

Do you want to avoid tobacco based shisha or is Hydro just what you happened to get?

Avoid Mya's Econo line, I've heard they fall apart. Edited by Skoozle

I would like to stay from tobacco based shisha, but I will not let the stuff I get in the order go to waste. Seeing as many of them let you choose 1 or 2 50gram packs.

And If I have to bump my price up from 80 to 120 to get a Hookah thats good quality that I wont freak if thats rust in the chamber, then I'll do it. Because its better to wait and save for piece of mind than to buy a cheap quick one. So, if it'll last a year or 2 awesome if you know it will last longer even better. I loved my pumpkin, never over filled it or anything, just said the chamber rusted so quick..

We have this flat top stove, could that be used to light naturals? I would like to get natural coals soon as I'm out of the QLs. Edited by Uxe

Im not sure about flap tops, if it is what im thinking of the right thing though, no. If you want to use naturals just pick up a plug in single coil burner like 13-15 bucks and worth it. and small myas are good, but the econo line isnt that great. MYA QT and Bambino are great small pipes

Sorry for double posting. But this is a cheap Khali that states its stainless steel, and looks nice to me.

Thanks for all the input guys, I'm feel alot more comforted in this decision now.

And again I dont really wanna get a cheap hookah that will just die on me.. So let me know if I'm still picking the junk.

To be honest, I am the wrong guy to talk to about online hookah prices; I think they are all over priced. I have been able to find really good deals elswhere and have not spent over $40 on any of my hookahs. But at the same time, I know not everyone has access to good local stuff that is priced much better. It is easier to buy something at a very low price when you can hold it in your hands and see the quality. By Buying online, you can get the assurance that you are getting a quality product without being able to actually see the stuff in person.

Keep in mind that there is a lot of junk online too. check here before you spend your money and the folks here will let you know if you have found a quality pipe.

I tried to link a couple of pipes from hookahjohn.com earlier but I couldn't but go there and check out his Syrian pipes and the one Magdy Ziadan.

EDIT: The KM you linked should be OK, It's a well known brand and Stainless Steel shouldn't rust, but I don't know first hand. Edited by Skoozle

Exactly the hookah I was going to link you to! Buy it if you want something traditional looking, it's a great hookah (I've owned one before) and at a great price. Want something modern? Go with the Mya QT, Bambino, Petite, Mono, Vento, etc.... All great little hookahs. http://www.hookah-shisha.com/c-16-small-mya-hookahs-mini-hookahs.html

For hoses, I recommend the Nammor washable, the Razan washable, and the Khalil Mamoon washables and nonwashables. The hose the KM comes with is a good one.

For coals I recommend Coconaras, Cocomazayas, and Razans. All natural coals.

Check out NazarHookah.com for all the Razan products I have mentioned. Mahir is a great guy and I love buying from him.

And yeah, get the single-coil burner to light naturals with. Sold at Walgreen's.

Yeah, thats a good one too. You can trust Chris's advice. That might be the way to go if you want to get one soon.

I did a quick google search of Charleston and the Smoking Lamp looks the most promising, but it is still likely that all their hookahs are crap. If there is an Egyptian or other north african ethnic area, that is where you will find what you are looking for. Most likely in a small shop that doesnt even come up on google.

I didn't really see much in Myrtle Beach on google.

Look around here for the next few weeks and you will be pretty well in formed by the time you go home for Christmas.

You will ruin that stove lighting coal on it. the wal-greens one is the one you want and you should be able to find one cheaper than $25

The wal-mart one most likely wont get hot enough to light coals.

Good luck! Edited by Skoozle

Startng to not really trust Mod hookahs.. But any say? I hear much Favor in Nammor, Mya, and KM. But I don't like the way the Mya's look so. Its either Nammor or KM and KM has some pretty Hookahs. I'm not looking forward to realy spending 100 on one. I'd rather spend 80 but if the difference in quality is that big. I just want a nice 22-28 inch Hookah I don't need a 30-38 inch one or even that one thats 72 inches.

Definitely don't use a glasstop stove. It'll ruin it. The burner you pictured from Walgreen's is the right one, but it can be found for much cheaper. Try walking in and purchasing it in person. See what the price is then.

Thanks, Ashley. That's the best deal on a KM that I've seen in a good while. Especially for the model you get.

For local places to look at, here in my area its the Middle Eastern bakeries/grocery stores. There's one in Nashville I go to, and just recently RollTideJan on here told me to check out another place that I didn't know existed (can't find it on Google). So yeah, Ashley is right about trying to find those places you can't just look up online.

Darn them being out of stock!

Then I personally would get the KM Amer (Damien). Plus, it comes with a washable hose. Not crazy about the base, but it may be your thing (can always be upgraded later if not). The Awlad Sarhans on Nazarhookah aren't bad either, meaning I've never heard anything bad about them, and I'm sure Mahir wouldn't sell them if they were junk. They seem like a very good Egyptian hookah just based off of the pics I have seen. The Nammor pipes on H-S are good- Stuie on here has rated them quite well. But I feel they are kinda pricey. The Triple Bubble I'd avoid, as I would only trust Mya pipes that are Chinese and look like that. Also, too pricey for what it is, in my opinion. Won't last you near as long as any of the Egyptians, especially the KMs. The Genie of the Lamp one looks pretty good for a generic Egyptian.

So if I ended up falling in love with this one, I would hopefully have no cheap-o issues.
