Jewel Quickies Vs. Fantasia Naturals

Recommended Posts

anyone used either of these coals? the fantasia ones claim you never have to ash them, but in my experience they work better if you DO ash them. the have the "V" cutout that supposedly allows perfect airflow. i have a small mod bowl that came with my hookah. and 2 of the coals on my bowl get it burning too hot, and 1 coal isnt enough.
jewel coals are the big quickies. they do the job, but they dont seem to last as long as id like. and with my small bowl, only one of them fits.
my biggest weakness with hookah is coals/heat management

heat management is always interesting.try cutting coals into halfs and spread it out on the bowl as much as you can.

Make sure the coals are on the edge. And if you can't find the optimal heat level, try splitting your coals like lain said.

there's always 1 coal and a windcover.

I just picked up a box of Fantasia coals. For some reason I thought they were coconut. Look remarkably similar to Exoticas.

Haven't seen Jewel Quickies.

Funny all the coal threads kinda come together. Its like everyone is thinking about the same things... things come in waves I guess.

I have a friend who said the Fantasia Airflows burn REALLY hot. I haven't tried them personally but I trust his opinion. Probably best for Nak/Mizo. I put in the other coals thread that I prefer CH bc its less heat which is good for Tangiers but sometimes I smoke AF or Nak DA and they are hot enough for that too. Not that I don't like CCNs AT ALL anymore but I just noticed the change and am not as partial towards them anymore.

As a general rule I avoid quicklights at all costs. They just aren't worth it.

For naturals, the Fantasia airflow coals are cool in theory, but what about when the little legs burn down? Then you're left with a normal coal. I also find it interesting that Stuie mentioned they aren't coconut. I thought they were, for whatever reason. Overall coals like these just seem all hype to me. I tend to not believe the hype...

I'd just as well rather stick with Cocomazaya, Coconara, or Razan, my top favorite brands of coconut coals right now. Golden Canaries or Fumaris (which are not coconut but instead Japs) if you can swing the extra cost and hassle of maintenance, as they work best with Tangiers.

I agree with Katie.. CH coals have been working great for me lately. Work awesome for tang, split way easier than CCN's, work great for Nak. they're cheaper, and I don't notice a taste from them (I notice a taste from coco's :()

as for the OP. I've never tried either, but I too, avoid QL's

Okay you are just crazy. CCN has no taste, CH has the tiniest taste. The newest batch is the best CH batch BY FAR. I would Switch to CH if John got some Cubes, but I love Cubes now too much to ever go back.

Agreed, from what I've used (haven't tried the newest CH version). Also, Cocomazaya have no taste as well.

I'm using the Fantasia airflows right now, I have 2 of them on my medium phunnel with a mix of AF mint and SB Tangerine and its smoking perfectly, haven't even touched the coals since I put them on about 30 min ago.
