fineout
I had a pretty persistant cough a 3 weeks ago that lasted until about monday, i still cough pretty harshly every once in a while now and i havent felt like i had a cold or anything. I'm hoping it wasn't from smoking, although at the time i was smoking close to every day. It has made me think about the health implications but i still smoked on wednesday because i wanted to. I have slowed down a lot since a few weeks ago until im sure that im not having problems.
â€On
My hookah delivers me my daily vitamins. I smoke heavily, daily, and I can still swim laps at the pool, jog and fight grizzly bears with my bare hands in my spare time. I have noticed no ill effects from smoking hookah, except for the fact that I now am more relaxed. My blood used to really get pumping while I fought grizzly bears off to protect my people, but now I just maintain my cool while all this goes on. Smoking hookah is part of my intense training regime, and completes my daily balanced diet.

mem3303
Based on my previous research, there seems to be no real effective study on the effects of hookah smoking versus other smoked tobacco products in the US. Additionally, most of the research done on hookah has been generated by the American Lung Association and the World Health Association and have a definite bias outlook on the perceived risks. I'll tell you what I told my professor when I was presenting my paper on the Hookah Smoking Habits and Respiratory Health: If you're going to smoke a tobacco product, it appears that hookah is inherently safer. Just look at the smoke. Hookah smoke is white or translucent where others are grey and ashen because it's just that- ash. While at the moment there are no conclusive studies comparing the particulate composition of hookah smoke versus others, it would be a fascinating and important study to conduct. Now for my disclaimer: I am a health care profession. I am a Respiratory Therapist who smokes. Yes, I am biased on both sides. It's like Coyote said, smoking is bad for you, period. But in my opinion, hookah smoking is safer.

atalanta
I only just started smoking hookah this fall. Bf has gotten into it too and wants to use it to cut down on cigs. Right now I don't smoke very often, maybe once a week.

joytron
FYI drinking in moderation is good for you. Numerous studies have shown that moderate drinkers live longer than abstainers or heavy drinkers.
I do not necessarily think there is a direct correlation between moderate drinking and positive health, I think the issue more has to do with the type of people that abstain from alcohol from a morale standpoint. Extra Mint
I don't believe that its harmful the way the media is boozing about it... Most of the sh*t you take in anyway isn't even smoke BUT WATER VAPOUR from the juice... Now if the chemicals are dangerous in there and its acid causes bones to dissolve like COCA COLA then that's another story. HOWEVER, few years back in Pakistan when flavored shisha got popular among the youth, upclass bars started mixing drugs in there and the kids of the rich families got concerned when their kids turn up at their doorstep 2am in the night drugged... One girl unfortunately died from it, she was a daughter of a big shot retired army general who went berserk and banned it in the whole city of Lahore due to shisha being HARMFUL, however the bars took the case to court and shisha was thoroughly tested in labs and declared HARMLESS. SO SMOKE AWAY LIKE NO TOMMOROW.......
