Lighting Golden Canary Coal With A Tea Light Candle

Recommended Posts

The other night, I couldn't find my Single coil range, so I had to light my coals with a candle.
Here's how it went:

0 min. - I used a pair of tongs to support the coal over the candle.

2 min. - Lit the candle and put the coal over the flame.

7 min. - Flipped the coal.

10 min. - First coal on the bowl and start the process with the second coal.

18 min. - Both coals on the bowl and ready to smoke. The candle wax is completely liquid and I have spilled some in my tray.

35 min. - Candle wax is solid enough to move the candle.

So there you go; it can be done this way if you need to, but a coil burner is easier.

Here's what I would do different next time:

I would use two candles to light two coals at once cutting lighting time down to about 10 min.

I would not do it in the tray unless I really had no other choice.
