Characteristics of the different brands

Recommended Posts

I am going out this weekend to an international type store to get my hookah. I will not be ordering anything online, so my shisha selection will be limited to what the store carries. If anybody could give me a compilation of the most common brands and their characteristics that would be awesome.Basically the most important factors to me are the intensity of the buzz and the amount of smoke. The more of each the better!! So far what I have picked up here is that Al Amir barely gives any buzz, so I will be sure to stay away from that, but that's pretty much all I know. Thanks

Romman I've heard is a lil bland but a lot of people love that brand.

nakhla is very common in mid-east markets and its unwashed ... it will definately give you a buzz ... in fact i just finished smoking nakhla sweet melon alone i packed a bowl after not smoking it for a few months and it really hit hard and gave me a headache so im going back to havana and af

I don't think the washed/unwashed factor is the only one in play for determining buzz strength. I've had sessions where I got no buzz whatsoever from nakhla, al waha, tangiers, etc, and I've had sessions (one bad one in particular) with AF. I think it depends on the batch of tobacco leaves that they used...though I could just be pulling things outta my you-know-where..Not sure, but makes sense to me

I have yet to feel a buzz from hookah. Well, there was that Tangiers blueberry time but that was because we were being rediculous. Ive threaded earliar before how i think i smoke too much to ever get a buzz. with the exception of that first cig of the day

I don't smoke very often at all and smoked a whole hearty bowl of Nakhla Mandarin by myself the other night. I was buzzin' like mad and it was very nice, and I was trying to smoke really slow and pace myself... but I just did toooo much. I felt really ill for about an hour or so. :P Once that 'too much nicotine' feeling starts to come on - there's no stoppin it. hehehe...It comes down to how much you smoke. If you smoke alot (especially if you have a cigarette habit on top of hookah), then you aren't gonna get much buzz from anything because your body is aclimated to nicotine. The unwashed brands are going to give you the most potential for buzz. They have the most nicotine.Good luck in your search. I live in New York City - all I've found here so far is Nakhla. :P That and I haven't seen any hookah bars that aren't honorarily exclusively to middle eastern gentlemen - not really my scene.

In the begining i used to get buzz's and i liked it up to the point i smoked 7 heads of nakhla by my self. It was so bad that when i stood up i fell. right now i am way to used for nakhla and i dont get any buzz's and yes if you smoke ciggarettes you have less of a chance of getting buzz's

There is a benefitof going to a lounge:the atmosphere. All but one of my trips to our local shisha it's been a great atmosphere. and we're practically family now amongst the owner and staff. he gives us free food and a heft discount (30% plus student discount.) They're all decent and the furnishing, music and other things make it really authentic.
