Hookah And Lasik

Day after surgery and smoking no issues... Just for those who are curious. :)

Mahir- There was NO pain before or during the whole surgery. Only pain was right after in the car ride home... We stopped at Wal-Mart to get my drugs and I finally fell asleep for about 20 minutes while Brooke was inside getting them. Got home, took my pain pill, and passed out for several hours. Woke up, no pain. Been doing my two different drops, one is an antibiotic and the other is a steroid. Took a Lunesta last night that they prescribed to help me sleep. I don't think I really needed it. I don't think I'll be taking the rest of my Lunesta or pain pills (have three left of each). Just gotta keep up with the drops. I went back today (drove myself) and they told me the steroid is to prevent scar tissue from forming. Since I have a bit of scar tissue forming in my right eye, they upped my dosage to 6 times per day in just that eye. So I'm having to do the antibiotic drop four times a day in both eyes, and the steroid three times in the left and six times in the right. Crazy schedule, haha. Had to set eight timers on my iPhone to make sure I keep it all straight. Just for 5 days, though. I gotta go back in Monday to check on the scar tissue thing.

But yeah, no pain except for the ride home (makes you want to gouge your eyes out). I was shaking during the surgery just because it was so weird having them cut into my eyes. And the smell of them burning my corneal tissue didn't help much, either. So far, I'd say it was worth it.

EDIT: Here's the process:

First they take you back to a dark room with a movie playing (they had Monsters, Inc. on, lol). They prep you by having you put a cap on to pull your hair out of your face. They tape on strips of gauze to your sideburns to catch the numbing drops during surgery. They put footies on over your shoes. Then they give you an 800mg ibruprofen and a Valium. Wait about 20 minutes. The doc marks your eyeballs with a pen (don't feel a thing). Wait about 10 minutes. Take you back to an even darker room right outside the surgery room. Wait for the guy before you to be done, then you're up. They lay you down on a chair and he lines up your head where it needs to be. He swings you under one laser, and the nurse puts drops in your eyes. To each eye, the doc holds open your eyelids while putting this thing on your eyeball, and says "suction." You feel it latch onto your eyeball, and the laser cuts the flaps. Then he swings you to another laser, and to each eye he puts the lid holders in, uses a tool to fold the flap back, and tells you to look into the flashing orange light. Takes about 10 seconds per eye. It burns the corneal tissue. After the laser is done, he puts the flap back. During this, you have a brief moment of INTENSE clarity. You see that flashing orange light PERFECTLY. But once the flap is back, you're left in a foggy haze. They stand you up and you can already see better, just foggy. They walk you back to the dark waiting room with the movie playing and you wait about 20 minutes. The doc checks to make sure your flaps are good, and they let you leave after going over all the post-op stuff. Give you some goggles that you have to wear at night taped to your face so you don't scratch or rub them during your sleep. I laid down in the car with Brooke's hoodie over my head shit was so bright and didn't dare open my eyes except for walking to the car and from the car once we got home. After that nap, I felt like a whole new man.
