deejmemixx
So I bought some Fantasia Tripple apple...and it tastes and smells like black licorice. It faintly smelt like it at the store but I just blew it off...... is this normal?
Mahir
Typically apple flavors will taste like black licorice, so it is normal
KasbahBazaar
Yea, the "licorice" taste is actually anise. But yea, it's supposed to taste like that.
mushrat
first time ive heard of a tripple apple with anise. Double apple always, bahrani apple, always, but not usually tripple apple.
Floataround
Though I do love some Fantasia flavors..I have always felt they do their best to be as gimicy as possible with the naming of some of their flavors. They want things to stand out as well. Every brand has a "Double Apple" , but Fantasia, wanting to try and stand out from the croud, made "Triple Apple". Because more is better just like hose ports..right? Anyway, not shocked at all. As everyone has said, most apple flavors, with the exception of some single apple flavors, have anise in them. If you are looking for just apple, try Al Fakher Golden Eskandrani Apple, which is like a green apple flavor. I am sure there are more, I think Tangiers makes a green apple, but the AF is the first that comes to mind.
Pavo21
yah well depends because fusino makes a tripple apple and its not a licroce smell but double definitly could just be how they make it is all
S3cretz
Romman(Al-Twareg line) makes triple apple too. Hint of anise and semi sour.
Chreees
Only Apple that I've ever tried that didn't taste like anise (licorice) were the Tangiers Apple flavors- Apple and Kashmir Apple. They're pretty good, but I'm not super crazy about apple flavor anything in the first place. May be right up your alley, though. I say check it out sometime. I definitely am not a fan of anise (Two Apples/Double Apple in other brands). That's what that flavor should be called, anise, not two/double apples. KasbahBazaar
"Rowan" is something I had years ago but haven't seen since. It was a red apple flavor free of anise. If you guys know those red Tic Tac bolds, when I bought a pack of those I remembered the Rowan I had way back when so I guess it kind of tastes like that. I do remember it was one of the best flavors I've ever had, I really need to get my hands on some.

deejmemixx
well thanks for the response.....this makes no sense though. I love black licorice..but if I wanted that flavor I would get it. Strange, it should taste like apple, oh well...guess I will just keep trying the fantasia line. I want to try tangiers but it kind of confuses me, and I need a diff bowl for that right? â€On
From what I know, the logic is that when you mix red apple and green apple, you get Anise.

The two apples flavor is traditionally made with anise notes, and if you're lucky, a semblance of apple flavor. Most companies stay true to the traditional formula, although with varying levels of anise.

KasbahBazaar
I looked more into the "Rowan" red apple flavor I recommended and I guess it's made by Havana which shocks me considering how much I enjoyed it when I had it at a lounge. Reading further, it seems that it is widely recommended as the best flavor that Havana makes. Going to have to order some of this soon, it's been 3 years since I've had it. But if it's as good as I remember it's probably one of the best non-anise apple flavors out there.

It's definitely hands down the BEST Apple flavor I've ever tried, that's for sure. EDIT: The only time I had it was from a trade... I'll buy it again fresh sometime and try it again just for you.
