r1v3th3ad
So last weekend I was up my camp due to the nice whether(winter time I normally cant get back there due to it being a private driveway and it is in the snow belt...). Had the propane wall mount heater going the whole weekend to warm the place. While smoking hookah(wasnt supposed to be, not my cabin but ), the carbon monoxide detector went bat-shit crazy. I unplugged it for a while. After the bowl was done, I took a break for a while and replugged in the carbon monoxide detector. Later in the night I packed a new bowl and smoked away. The detector went off again. Whats up with that? Its a 1 story house size cabin and I was using shitty Cocojamra coals.
Stuie
I have carbon monoxide detectors all over my house and I have never had that happen. I have been smoking some Jamra this week, to get rid of them. Maybe Heater, bad batch of coals, or possessed CO detector
Pavo21
thatswerid yah we have tons of them also in the house and never went off for us?
mustang67n
IDK , but when i used Jamras a while ago, i would get crazy headaches and stuff.. I'm guessing they give off more CO than other coals..
r1v3th3ad
I found it odd though that it did not go off New Years(I wasn't smoking hookah) and I had the heat cranked...and it didn't go off any other time that weekend except for when the hookah was going hmmm
gramps
What kind of detector is it - simple alarm or display of ppm? Where is it located - wall, ceiling, in hallway?

At 70 parts per million: Unit must sound alarm within 60-240 minutes.
At 150 parts per million: Unit must sound alarm within 10-50 minutes.
At 400 parts per million: Unit must sound alarm within 4-15 minutes.
The CO level may have peaked just enough to set off the alarm.
Skoozle
Maybe you mutated and breath out CO now instead of CO2?
r1v3th3ad
first time was probably over an hour into the section, so maybe it just peaked....it is direct plug/hang from outlet and in the kitchen(about 13ft from propane heater and 17 ft from hookah)
gramps
You're still alive so t wasn't too serious. Just go outside every once in a while or open a window just a bit. Keep in mind that repeatedly breathing too much CO may cause permanent impotence. Just kidding!
Tyler
Were you sitting direclty under the detector? Maybe the coals wern't all the way lit and were lighting on the bowl and the fumes were rising up to it?
Coyote
That happened to Eddie and I once. We were smoking and the detector started going off. I just took the batteries out of it and opened a window. I never put the batteries back in.

Pretty sure they put off way more than what im used to. also if you were lighting those anywhere near the CO detector and/or there was bad circulation of air in the house that could be it as well
Stuie
I have only one coal ever set off my CO and Fire Alarms and that was the QL Mabruk use to ship with their stuff.

CarePolice
I had this happen not long ago. After years of never having an incident, even in this very apartment, I had it go off at about 11:30 at night. Was a relatively small number of coals is what concerned me. My friend had his go off, a couple weeks later. The only consistantcy was Exoticas, so I'm not sure if we got bad batches, or if they've always put off the CO and we didn't know. I did tend to get a lot of headaches with Exoticas.
