CO_hookah
So, the lounge I frequent has a bunch of hookahs next to the register for sale. After reading all the post about Elmas, this particular hookah struck me with the potential to be Turkish, and the owner said it is. After giving it a look over it has the proper characteristics: No purge valve, an unglazed male bowl, constructed from one piece of metal (I want to say brass). However, the things that worry me are its really light (it can't be more then a pound w/o the vase), and the hose port is really tiny. Attached is a picture, and I hope someone can help! Thanks!
Mahir
That does look like a Turkish hookah from what I have seen in Turkey. However, its hollow and that's why it weighs next to nothing.
CO_hookah
Does that affect its smoking ability at all? If it does, I'll just hold out until, and save my money, until you get more Elmas in stock.
Mahir
I haven't really had any smoking experience with them honestly...but let me ask you this....how much is that one?
CO_hookah
He said he'd give it to me for $44. That also threw me off as most other Turkish hookahs I've seen have been way more.
Mahir
Sounds pretty fair for what it is....and being that it was imported to the states. All that matters is if you would be happy with it. I am assuming it comes with a somewhat plain hose? Maybe a mya looking one?
Chreees
I personally would hold off and get a solid brass Elmas. That particular model is light and hollow as Mahir said. It will most likely smoke fine, though. Decent price, too.
CO_hookah
Thanks, guys! Oh now on to life's biggest problem... Making a decision. haha
Sounds pretty fair for what it is....and being that it was imported to the states. Hassouni
I would pass on that without thinking twice, especially for $44. Those can be picked up for a song in touristy areas of Istanbul, and that's about the only place you'll see them.
Blakefox
Off topic, but is song cockney rhyming slang for money as in "song peice", or do you literally mean a musical song?
Blakefox
Oh nevermind, one dictionary explained : Song .... 7: a small amount <sold for a song> I wasnt sure If there were singing groups passing out hookahs.

mushrat
never heard the expression "picked up for a song"?? Damn i feel old. Lets also mention that hookah is missing a tray. I'd hold off.
