S3cretz
I have a sulotion! I lost a vase grommet today and went to buy a few so I happened to get a very thick one just in case. And esentially what happens is it raised the stem a bit on one side because I pressed it in further on the other side. perhaps you could do that with theese vases Edited February 9, 2012 by S3cretz

Mahir
I guess what I meant when I said "I have a couple" was...that I have HAD a couple of crooked vases. I'll keep a lookout though
Skoozle
If you get another one that is really bad (as bad or worse than that one), I'd like to try to make a hanging hookah with it. Something like this:
Stuie
Skoozle... where do you get one??? Looks like it could swing... possible fun project though....
Skoozle
That pic is from overstock.com . I wouldn't do a straight bar to the hanger, I would have the pivot at the height of the bowl. Think ape hanger bars instead of drag bars. EDIT: It looks like the vase in the pic could work with a short stem. Rani
Now that's crooked, but here's a bit of interesting science for anybody who night not know. Glass is a liquid. A very stiff liquid that never becomes a solid. Which is why all the window panes in those 150+ year old houses are thicker at the bottom than the top. So technically you could lay it down with the curve up, and in about oh, 300 years or so it would probably have bent back the other way, lol...... The variation of thickness is a manufacturing issue and it is just as likely that the window pane will have thicker glass on the top.

mushrat
ill call you this afternoon Mahir. And i am going to make a hookah that works with that base. You have no idea how many old stems i have laying around to mess with.
Skoozle
Post pics when you get it all put together, Mush. I bet it'll look like a hookah with an attitude problem.
Tyler
Step 1: Buy crooked base Step 2: elongate a QT stem Step 3: smoke from a free base because the QT stem is functional yet short enough not to allow the lean to be over-pronunced Step 3a: Set hookah down half way on a small book to negotiate the lean. gramps
Use a long stem but bend it with a tubing bender. Then put something under the vase to level it.
