Blue Lantern
I've been reading the threads lately and have been tempted to buy a new hookah for around $100. I already have a Mya Qt (like everyone and their mom ) and I'm looking for something that...1. Quality (Good like Mya, no brass rusting shxt like my last egyptian )2. Good for a gathering of friends (think 4-6 people)3. Easy to clean (like my QT) 4. "Smokes like a champ" credit to whoever coined taht phrase here.Suggestions? Pros and cons? I've been looking at Mya Bohemians, Taqseem Stargate Rotator (and regular one too), old school Egyptian (keepin' it OG), and open to other suggestions.Thanks,-J

03SilverTL
I second novicafe,, i have a 32" Black 4 hose stargate, and its amazing. Great build quality, smokes awesome, and is easy to clean.
cityboyyy
i disagree ... i heard bad things about stargate ....check the threads
HookahDuck
I own a 25" two hose stargate, and I would recommend against them. The base where the plexiglass is attached to the steel leaked and came apart (Ihad to epoxy it, and then later silicone it to make it seal), the finish is weak and will rub off (even when treated very gently), the threads on the base are plexiglass and rubbed off from light use(I have to use a wet paper towel to get it to seal. The downpipe which extends into the water was the wrong size threads- after 4 emails, a replacement was sent- only it was the wrong size as well. Two more emails were never responded to afterwards. The stem connections are made of copper and will gaul together from oxidation if you leave it assenbled. I have a few other gripes; mostly about poor/non-existant customer service. When I first got the stargate, I loved it. As time goes on, I smoke out of it less and less.To Taqseem's defense, they have many satisfied customers on the board. I just dont happen to be one of them. cymptom
I was gonna suggest that premium Khalil Mamoun at hookahcompany.com, but I don't see it there anymore. They brought back the $60 one though, so I would suggest that and then $40 spent on shisha.
novicafe
At the cafe we use the Stargates as our public hookahs for when people order them. We've used them for a year now and they hold up very well and still smoke very good. And yes I do like modern hookahs

I only see the $40 Khalil Mamoun one on hookahcompany.I've read so many horror stories of the threads wearing out on the Stargates so I'm hesistant. I don't really want to use a paper towel to seal the base in the long run... it'll look kinda ghetto esp when your friends are over. What are some good Egyptians? Medium sized is fine. pauldavis
the pharoah from hookah-shisha was my first hookah and i liked it a lot (i reccomend getting the "genie" style base...it looks sooo cool), until i got tired of being the guy who always had to set up the hookah at a party...so i got a one hoser for myself and sold the pharoah to a friend who's house i go to all the time, now he has to set it up...MUAHAHAHA....so long story short, the pharoah was pretty cool

b1m9x
I purchased the premium khalil mamoun from hookahcompany.com it smokes wonders and the quality is unmatched with any other hookah i have smoked. It is very sturdy and seems very well made. The only issue i really have with it is the hose that came with it, it is not washable and absorbes flavours and other buildup. I would recommend that hookah but make sure to get a mya washable or other type of hose. Also the bowl that came with the hookah is top quality as well and is larger to hold extra shisha, the metal screen that comes with the hookah doesn't fit however because of the wider bowl. It's a shame that they don't have it in stock right now, i would e-mail hookahcompany.com or just keep an eye out in case they get it back in. But yeah, the khalil mamoun is a great hookah. DownZero
I have the Social Smoke Aurora and would recommend it to anyone... I would recommend any SS hookah. I've smoked from a mini to the large and haven't been disappointed. Cleaning my 34" hookah hasn't been hard although I wouldn't doubt a smaller hookah being easier. I would say thats the only con about the Aurora... it's size - but only if you find it inconvenient to clean a 34" hookah. But thats with any large hookah... Blue Lantern
Thanks for all the responses. I think i'm going to go for one of the SS hookahs on sale right now. The only problem is that they're single hose. Do you guys regret getting a 1 hose?
DizzyGuy
1 hose means that you pass the hose around... it gives that nice social atmosphere IMO. I have the SS aurora too and yeah, I've been fine with 1 hose... and I just bought another hookah and it is 1 hose too.
SanguineSolitude
1 hosed hookahs also smoke better and you dont need to worry about plugging hoses. yeah i know some brands make the ball bearing shut off valves but that just restricts airflow. one is traditional as well, and thats worth something in my book. DizzyGuy
Sanguine brings up a good point... From my experience, I've gotten better draw from 1 hosers vs multiple hoses
SiberianKiss
I just ordered my SS Aurora. It says it should be here on Friday. I'll let you know how I like it when it comes in, unless you get yours first. Does anyone know if the estimated arrival date with UPS is usually accurate? DizzyGuy
It's usually pretty acurate unless they have the wrong address or the dude just gets lost... both have happened to me
cityboyyy
havent heard anything about the 18" im assuming it will smoke fine ... the rave reviews are about the premium khalil... i would wait or email them about the premium khalil first
