Lost Flavour - Al Fakher

One of my flavours - AF double apple - seems to have lost all it's flavour, which is really strange. My packing technique is relatively dense on a vortex, with 3 coconut coals (have also tried loose packing), but it has no flavour to it at all. No harshness and lots of smoke, which is quite strange. I don't get that when I smoke watermelon, orange, mint which I got at roughly the same time and have all been stored in airtight containers.

At first I thought it might be too much heat, or not enough airflow, but i've tried changing this around without success. Maybe it's just AF double apple.

Any ideas?

Did you get no flavour from it even the last time you smoked it?

I don't get it. I mean, AF as I've experienced loses flavour overtime if not stored properly, but your case is different, because you stored it in an airtight container and you have other flavours roughly as old, and AF double apple is a strong flavour imo.

Have you tried smoking it using any other bowl? An egyptian may be? or a phunnel?

Does the tobacco in your container still smell strong and flavorful?

It was fine when I first opened it, and I think it has been like this for the last few sessions. Maybe it's my packing technique for this particular one - hard to be sure. I'll try it in an egyptian and see if thats any different.

It does smell ok when opened - maybe not as strong as when first opened, but the smell is there

Smoking some AF watermelon and mint at the moment and it's great!

Not sure about packing AF in Vortex since I don't have one buy try it out in an Egyptian and loosely pack it and keep it right below the rim. What kind of coals are you using? Could be too hot w/ 3.

Using coconut coals - usually 3, but have also tried 2 with a windcover
