Coyote
FYI After speaking with Coconara today we discovered that there has been an outbreak of counterfeit coconaras in the market mostly in the UK. Buyer Beware- Coconara sold in 140PC/box are all counterfeit.

Thought I heard that from someone here. Anyone?
I remember. Someone was not getting good flavor/clouds from their Tangiers. When questioned, she said that she got it from a lounge owner out of a bin. Someone speculated that it may have been counterfeit. I found out that it was indeed real Tangiers from a reputable lounge owner.
Local market has 80 or 90 some piece boxes...they burn weird and ash brownish
Variances in seasons can cause different colors and texture of ash. At least in coconut coals. Sometimes though the color is caused by fillers and stuff that they don't want to tell you about. Generally you will be able to tell by the smell and performance. Chreees
Never heard of couterfeit Tangiers, but I have heard of some shops repackaging Tangiers. Dunno if you guys remember JOE, but he said he bought Tangiers repackaged in little tubs, 100g, and it was no bueno. I sent him some Tangiers to compare and he said that the stuff I sent him was good. So definitely something was up with that.

Extra Mint
i doubt it will make a difference, Cocanaras dont make any coal, they are a marketing company... All coconut coals come from factories in the far east, these companies just buy them at 50cents/KG and sell them under their brand name under higher prices. But seriously, it tasted like soap. Every. Damn. Flavor. they had about 10. I asked Eric when he was still active on this forum if they bought from him directly and he said no. SOOOOO, unless they bought it someplace else, its fake. And a horrible fake too.

CarePolice
I don't have any pictures, nor have I bought any in a while, but the shop I go to carries Coconaras. The first batch I bought smoked very well, like every legit box of Cocos I've smoked, so I suspect it was probably a legitimate box. At some point I bought another box and it was just awful. It looked like a fake (box was not very brightly colored, plastic was iffy, etc), but I bought it anyway hoping that they were still decent coals. Nope. Took a good 20 minutes to light, with three or four flips, all the while putting off laughable heat. After being the bowl for about a minute, the bottom was completely extinguished, and about five minutes later, the rest of the coal had gone out completely. As far as knockoff Tangiers, I have no clue. I've only ever smoked Tangiers at a lounge that came in the original packaging, tasted like Tangiers, buzzed like Tangiers, all the good stuff. no longer welcome
I've personally seen counterfeit AF, SB, 3kings, and easy lites. They all work, but the point is they are counterfeit!!!!!! I don't feel liek discussing what kind of POS person does that sort of thing. Then walks around like he's boss because he's turning a profit.

Rambo
My lounge just got a batch of cocanaras that just won't light. They extinguish almost instantly. We have coals go completely black on customers hookahs. But seeing this post makes me think they are fake.
