no one important
Hey guys im new to the forums so HELLO ahah. But anyway, i'm new to tangiers and i've read plenty of information on acclimation but i still have some extra questions on it. So first off correct me if im wrong but basically how i should do it is 4 hours uncovered stirring once every hour then storring it in a tupperware for 20 hours, but my questions are 1. so should i empty the whole 250g on one single plate, or should i put half on one plate and half on the other? 2. once i do this, is it safe to be stored in a tupperware(kept in the same smoking area) for the remainder i keep it? Thanks for any advice!
cotsi95
acclimate the whole 250 at one time. a shallow wide tupperware is the best to acclimate and store the tangiers in since you have a greater service area for acclimating. and yes just make sure its sealed up after acclimating because the flavor can evaporate off over an amount of time if left open
Webbles
You should try mushing up your tobacco in it's packaging before opening the vaccumrd package. it's a new acclimation theory and I tried it out with Koke and Indian summer and it worked great. Floataround
I have been doing this for a few weeks with Noir. Katie taught it to me and its worked great. All you need to do is just kneed everything together in the bag for a few minutes before opening it. It should be good to smoke right away. I had 0 luck acclimating Noir in MD until using this method. Now I have smoked Orange Soda, Peach Iced Tea, and Snozberry (all Noir) right out of the bag with no issue. I found the peace to be a little lacking in flavor, but the next day it was fine. After the initial mix and dump, I just seal it up and check on it the next day.
Chreees
That's awesome! See, learn something new everyday on this awesome forum. I'll try it out next time I get some unopened Noir.
no one important
Thats a nice idea might try it. And so if i dont try that and just do it the original way, just put the whole 250 in ONE container with the 4/20 method, NOT a plate and half on one and half on the other, im understanding this correctly right haha?
Correct. Feel free to checkout my tutorial to see how I do it: http://www.hookahfor...ngiers-success/ Not everyone does it (Tangiers in general, not just the acclimation part) the same, but that should serve you as a guide. Others will chime in and tell you how they do it as well.

TobiasKM
Oh, I'm going to have to try that next time.. Acclimating has been a pain in the ass for me, most of the time I just give up in the end.
king_lunchb0x
me too, this sounds very interesting. The humidity here ranges from 50-80% depending on the day. thanks for the tip float.
IainUM
i haven't had to acclimate tangiers once down here in miami, just smoke it right out of the bag
TobiasKM
The climate here in Denmark is probably quite a bit more unstable than a lot of other places. I think I need to get me a way of measuring the humidity, just to try and keep track of it. I've had some tobacco in my closet for quite some time now, it smells sort of smokey. At this point I have no idea what flavour it's supposed to be Just tried the whole freezer thing, I haven't tried that before. It's sitting open right now, haven't gotten any improvement yet. I wish humidity didn't have as much of an impact as it does.. The weather is never stable for very long around here, but I guess I'm just going to have to keep trying It has to be able to work somehow! Is there any risc that transportation from the US to Denmark could have any influence? Since it can stand to spend a night in the freezer, I'm guessing it's plenty resilient for that. When I first had tangiers I acclimated and it didn't turn out right. The last few packages I've just opened and smoked without 4/20 and it's been a lot better. Coyote
Yes. I forgot to post about the new Instant Acclimation Method. We have discovered that this method drastically (if not completely) reduces the need for 4/20 acclimation. Tangiers comes in vacuum sealed bags. When the seal is broken, the juice is pulled away from the tobacco, separating it and causing the particles to become unstable. Traditionally, we stir the tobacco mixture once it is out of the bag in order to reincorpate and redistribute the mixture. We then allow it to rest so that the particles time to become stable again in their new environment. If we squish the bag a bunch to incorporate the juice as thoroughly as possible before breaking the seal we have noticed that the tobacco needs no acclimation. I have found that most Tangiers smokers using this method have the highest success rate by squishing for at least 2 minutes. Let me know if this works for you guys. I would like to hear some feedback on how this works in areas that have reported acclimation difficulty and also on the more humidity sensitive flavors such as grapefruit and classic raspberry.

I just picked up my first bag of noir(mimon) (I've smoke lucid for the past year or so to avoid acclimating) so instead of acclimating i'll try out these instructions first and let everyone know how my experience was. no one important
I feel like this technique will be really useful for the packs of lucid that just need a little acclimating and it'll make them perfect.
TobiasKM
Did it work for you? This is seriously interesting if it works for everybody. I'm very interested in hearing from someone who has had as much trouble as I have. I've even gotten Lucid flavours that were off.
Yes it did, I got a fresh bag of tangiers noir mimon yesterday vacuum sealed and all, and basically followed the exact instructions, but for three minutes rather than two, opened up and the smell of lemons and mint(without any soy smell) came out! First bowl turned out perfect, other than the slightest throat tickle, so I let it sit out sealed overnight and smoked again this morning and that tickle was gone. I'm going to try this method again tonight with an unopened bag of noir Indian summer and a bag of f-line kashmir that just came in. I'll let you guys know if they go good as well. no one important
So I just did this method again the exact same way with kashmir f-line and indian summer noir. Glad to report i had the same excellent results.
