Coyote
We have discovered that this method drastically (if not completely) reduces the need for 4/20 acclimation. Tangiers comes in vacuum sealed bags. When the seal is broken, the juice is pulled away from the tobacco, separating it and causing the particles to become unstable. Traditionally, we stir the tobacco mixture once it is out of the bag in order to reincorpate and redistribute the mixture. We then allow it to rest so that the particles time to become stable again in their new environment. If we squish the bag a bunch to incorporate the juice as thoroughly as possible before breaking the seal we have noticed that the tobacco needs no acclimation. I have found that most Tangiers smokers using this method have the highest success rate by squishing for at least 2 minutes. Let me know if this works for you guys. I would like to hear some feedback on how this works in areas that have reported acclimation difficulty and also on the more humidity sensitive flavors such as grapefruit and classic raspberry.
king_lunchb0x
Well i dont have any noir yet, but I did open a bag of lucid Orange soda. last night. kneeded the bag for about 2 minutes (maybe minute 30) and then cut it open. I almost always have to acclimate everything lucid or noir. Maybe this just was the perfect day to open and didn't really need to do all that but Im thinking it couldn't hurt. So after dumping the bag and sealing up the container i left it over night. SMoked it about an hour ago and it was just fine. great flavor no harshness to it. long story short im going to be trying this with every bag i get tomorrow. bump for tangiers goodness
DrSmokes
I typically don't have a problem with just opening and smoking but I'm going to see if this helps improve flavor. I have an unopened cactus fruit lucid and have been smoking my opened one so I'll see if the flavor changes when I try this method.
Floataround
I had no luck with Noir until I was taught this a few weeks ago. Sense then I have ordered multiple packs and everything has been perfect.
EAK1791
I'm excited to try this out, as soon as i have an empty tupperware to put a pack in.
Pavo21
Sounds good but I don't need to acclimate it but I'm sure it would work
cotsi95
I tried it today it seems to work, or at least help.
Epoch
Just tested this out with a new bag of Cool Strawberry. Smoking fresh out of the bag, and it's great. Usually acclimation is fairly easy here, so my test may not be a good indicator.
no one important
So I just did this technique with a fresh bag of noir mimon for about 3 minutes, works great! A little harsh, but hardly noticeable. Most likely didn't pack it that well cause I was excited to see how well this works out but I am letting the rest of the batch sit out for an hour in my tupperware just in case. Other than that right when I cut it open I could smell the mimon perfectly!

ChicagoRSX
Funny part to this is, I've always done this with all my tobaccos. Just figured there was flavor in that juice that I didn't want to loose.

Rani
Because Tangiers is a more natural product with more volatile flavorings, I've always stored in in squeezed down baggies inside plastic tubs. So pulling out the baggie and squishing it around has always been my mixing method. Plus living 2 hours north of where it's made, acclimation has never once been an issue for me. I was always astonished when people said they had a hard time with Tangiers because it smoked perfectly for me from the first bag Eric ever gave me. So maybe the "coincidence" of it working so well for me has to do with the way I just happen to store and use it. Nice to know there might be some science behind it instead of just dumb luck. Kmon
When I buy my Tangiers it comes in another container (standard circular shallow 1" tub) but I could put what I have over to a ziplock and mash it up and then return it back to it tub. I wonder what Eric's Thoughts are?

Satou
Never even thought all that squishing of the package I do actually helped acclimate the shisha at all. (was trying to get a wiff of the flavor usually through the plastic) - no wonder it was quite smokeable after doing that.

Kudos to whoever first recognized it was actually a useful obsession on some people's parts! 'Rani
littlec
I've tried this method and while it didn't work I don't blame the method but will warn that the same methods to regular acclimation still apply. The reasoning behind that was it was raining outside and my garage door was cracked a little (I smoke in my garage) and I tried this, no cigar. I'll give it another go tonight since it's been nice and sunny lately. Edited February 22, 2012 by littlec
king_lunchb0x
im just hoping to have to acclimate less, to not have to do it all is too good to be true for me. I just dont want to have to do 1-3 days of 4/20 over and over again. If it helps speed it up to just 1 session maybe 2 hours open that would be great!
