Finally!

The mysterious Nakhla Mizo Blueberry rumor has been confirmed!

I thought about it a couple days ago and decided to look at Nakhla's website. Didn't see it listed on there, but I did see their email address. Figured I'd just ask them about it. Additionally, I stumbled upon another Mizo flavor called Lychee when I was doing a Google search, so I inquired about it as well.

This was the response:
Dear Chris,

Yes we can confirm the release of these flavors!

They just came out only weeks ago, so they will be soon available in the USA.

I have high hopes for the Mizo Blueberry since my favorite blueberry, Tangiers Blueberry, is long gone. But what about the Lychee? I googled it and know it's a fruit, but has anyone ever tried one? Going to be interesting for sure. The weird fruits we don't normally hear always intrigue me, such as jackfruit and guanabana (or soursop). I'm definitely picking up both of these flavors as soon as I can, but I'm especially excited for the Mizo Blueberry! :yahoo:

Yep! We grow it here in India too (known as leechi here). It's a fruit with red, and somewhat spikey rind/skin, and the fruit has very soft white pulp, which is very sweet and watery with very subtle sour-ish hints sometimes, but it's sweet mostly.

@Topic: I am not too excited...we only get a handful of nakhla flavours as it is, and I've never seen the mizo line here. :\

I am really interested in Lychee...its a unique Japanese (?) fruit, and its used in various things from candies to teas. I wasn't a huge fan of the actually Lychee fruit when I had it years ago, but the flavors it creates are pretty amazing...I hope it turns out well

Yeah everytime I go to the Indian grocery store I get a bunch of lychees... I always intend to take them home but then I'm like, "let me just have one now... " of course one isn't enough and no matter how many I buy they are gone before I get home. They are so good...

mmm.I need to hit up Punjab now.

The lychee is cultivated in China, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, Bangladesh and northern India (in particular Bihar, which accounts for 75% of total Indian production). South Africa and the United States (Hawaii and Florida) also have commercial lychee production[sup].[/sup]

I'm not messing with you, Vimal! Shipping the Crown bowl to you in India was quite on the cheap side, so I wouldn't mind shipping you some of these flavors to try once I can get my hands on them. :)

And the fruit looks weird as hell, but I'm hoping it's good. It sounds good. Now we just have to wait a bit longer and see...

This is awesome news! The Lychee would be hard to construct a natural tasting flavor of so I have a feeling it will be more of a candy flavor like Mizo's Watermelon which is more of a candy watermelon than an actual watermelon.

The lychee fruit I find to be extremely light on flavor and is mainly just sweet. Its texture is wonderful, which is probably why its used in drinks ad a replacement to bobas.
