no one important
Great man let us all know how it goes. Like everyone else youll need a lot of guidance and help so just search around on forums and ESPECIALLY look on youtube for all the tutorials and stuff it has to offer, thats my biggest piece of advice. no one important
Yeah plenty of lies haha. What setup do you have coming? And I know you probably wont get around to this for a while, but upgrading your hose, bowl and coals are going to be a big turning point in your hookah career ahah. [/quote] This probably wasnt the best of the choice BUT i got it cause it was dirt cheap included some shisha and coals. http://www.socialsmoke.com/Habibi-Pumpkin-Hookah-i In the future when im less broke i plan on getting both a phunnel bowl AND a vortex bowl to try and a straight piece of metal instead of tin foil and a whole different hookah. There are a few hoses im curious as to try again when i have more money. Same for the shisha. There are some great sounding brands and i have heard some awesome reviews that i want to try that are excelent in taste and make excelent thunder clouds. mustang67n
Phunnel bowls work MUCH better than vortex bowls from my experience and many others. and the tin foil works much better than the metal screens. The metal tends to overcook the shisha, and the tobacco ends up burning and getting stuck to the screen.

People are saying that this smells like what it does fresh inside of the bag when you smoke it. Is this true or is there a whole new smell to it? mustang67n
you mean the tobacco? Most flavors do taste and smell like they do out of the bag Some though, smell different than they taste.
no one important
Yeah trust me you'll always want to use foil over screens (Reynolds HD is my choice). And while I agree the phunnel is a lot better than the vortex, when you upgrade your bowl I suggest getting the vortex first just because I personally feel the vortex is more of a bowl for beginners to hookah and I think it's easier to start out with rather than just jumping straight to the phunnel. And if you're saying does the shisha taste like how it smells, then this is generally true. Sometimes it's not but more than not what you smell is what you get. do you know what coals/shisha you got with it? And don't worry about the hookah for now, i'm sure it's a great starting place! =]

If it burns like what it smells in the bag then i can easily smoke indoors and not piss people off endlessly and make the house smell of grapes. no one important
Yeah quick lites are the basic starting point for most people new to hookah. They'll do for now just MAKE SURE YOU LIGHT THEM OUTSIDE or your house will smell like fireworks ahha. Eventually when you get the hang of what you have now, look for natural coals (Coconaras, Chronic hookah coals) and it'll be an amazing new experience for you lol. what brand shisha did you get? I got social smoke shisha is what it is called with my hooka. hopefully its not something scary cause its an odd ball name or something that the site made to go with the hookah when you order it as most sites give you a gift or something which is extremly nice. Shipping was cheap as hell for that hookah also which made me buy it. Edited February 23, 2012 by high_and_gone
high_and_gone
And is a wind cover a must or is that optional? and does it produce more vapor too and more heat im assuming?
no one important
Well there's no vapor produced from hookah, just smoke. But a windcover is useful when youre using a standard egyptian bowl to put on when youre bowl is dying out and it basically gives more heat to keep it going. But the main purpose for a windcover in my opinion is for the vortex. The vortex bowl needs to be heated up for 7-10 minutes before smoking, and I find it a necessity to put the windcover over the vortex bowl to heat it up for 10 minutes before smoking. no one important
Yeah good luck I hope you enjoy. The main thing I cant stress enough is your first bowl, or first 100 bowls probably wont be that great, and you WILL encounter a ton of problems and eventually might just want to give up. Trust me 99% of people who buy their first hookah encounter this problem, me being one. But now ive been smoking daily for 2 years and I rarley encounter problems with my bowls because I just kept trying, looking up videos and asking for help. One day something will click and youll get it, and that thing will build off another and so on. Just keep trying and youll get it. Look for better products, look for different techniques and youll be fine!

joytron
Honestly I would just get a chipped discount egyptian bowl, they often are sold for a $1 and work really well. If you plan on getting a new hose, new bowls, and a windcover you might as well just buy a whole new rig as well.

no one important
Yeah but dont even worry about upgrading right now, just wait till youve perfected your current setup which shouldn't be for at least a couple months, then focus on upgrading!
