Trouble Shooting My Shisha Stem.

Recommended Posts

I just bought a shisha from me local smoke shop and was asked to exchange it because of the style. Fine. But when I do get around to exchanging it. I decide to try it out for a smoke. The very metal bottom of the stem seems to keep falling from the rest of the stem. I'll try to explain it verbally, but i'll have a pic posted up soon. So the very bottom of the stem falls off from the rest of the pipe whenever I inhale. The bottom has two parts that needed to be attached. There is a piece that connects the bottom part of the stem to the rest of the pipe that has to be tied on. When I try to connect that piece to the connector and set up the hookah again, it still keeps falling. Any suggestions? could I by a replacement part for what I am talking about.

It sounds like you're describing that the screw-in downstem won't stay in. I honestly would take this hookah back to the shop you purchased it from and let them know it's doing that. Try to get a refund if possible. Then just buy a quality Chinese hookah made by Mya Saray:

I personally prefer the QT, but the Bambino, Mono, Vento, and Petite will all smoke the same. You could also look into Egyptian pipes, but they're gonna run a bit more money, about twice as much, for a quality one.

You'll probably need to know this info as well, so here it goes...

Get natural coals. Much better than QLs, but totally worth it. Will need to light them using an electric single coil burner, or something similar.

Good bowls are a must. The Mya Saray bowl is decent, but I recommend the clay Egyptian bowls and Tangiers Small Phunnels the most.

Good hoses are a must as well. The Mya Saray ones are not that great and won't last you very long. Go for a washable Nammor or Razan.

Good tobacco brands to start out with... Nakhla and Al Fakher for more traditional, or Starbuzz for something more modern. Most of us prefer Nak and AF over SB, but just try different brands and see what you like.

Any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. We're here to help. :)

Well I sort of solved the problem with the stem in the mean time. I use duct tape to make it stay on. I might the bottom part of it later.
The bottom part of the stem is in two parts: the first part you screw in, while the second part, the pipe, you insert into the hole where you screw it in. I'll send you a pic of the actual hookah with parts instead so that way it makes more sense.

Now I can't get a heavy smoke out put tho lol. One solution creates another problem.

Yeah, pictures would help out a lot in this situation. :) But if you're having this much trouble, I think it's safe to say you just need to take it back. Now that you're going to have duct tape residue on it, I'm not sure that they will...
