A13lackFish
Hey All, So I just got in the mail my new KM Jumbo Base and my new stem gromet (as mine was in bad shape). What is the best way to put the new gromet on the stem?? Thanks
MichaelLCP
Is it like, too tight? Or? Because if it is too tight I use a little bit of olive oil, slides right on.
A13lackFish
Ended up getting it there with careful precision with needle nose plyers. And it fit snug as a glove into the new base. Thanks for the help though buddy

Chreees
Yep, needle nose pliers is what I always use for getting gaskets on and off. Glad to see you figured it out.
Skoozle
I always do it by hand. Try Syrian gaskets. They are much easier to work with.

Shit tends to get sticky. In fact right now I have Syrian gaskets on both my KM and Nawras with electrical tape as well, but just the hockey tape gasket tape stuff on the Elmas. Stuie
I always do it by hand.
That's why I have moved to silicon gaskets from the myas when changing bases add another rubber band grommet to build it up and done. No plier's necessary, unless that's your bag.
Skoozle
I have never and will never put tape on any of my pipes. Unless it's duct tape on a stem that is broken in half I pick up some syrian gaskets and rubber band gaskets whenever I am at a place that sells them. Being that they vary in size, I have a nice collection of gaskets now and always have one trhat will fit. Some times, like Stuie said, a rubber band gasket is required. A13lackFish
Yeah I heard initially about using electrical tape, and then was recommended vasalene... needless to say, I progressed away from both options haha. Was just my first time changing up the grommet, which now allows my hookah to sit without a gangster lean on in the new jumbo.
Chreees
Well the electrical tape is meant to be put on underneath a gasket to ensure proper fitting for a gasket that is not big enough. It's a permanent solution. Vaseline seems more like something you would do as a temporary solution to make a gasket that is fitting too tight to go in easier.
http://ultimatehooka...Grommet-SYB.htm Thinner than the black gaskets commonly found on KMs.
This grommet is thinner than Egyptian base grommets. It will even allow you to fit a KM stem into a Syrian base.
Exactly why I use one of these on my KM OG Trimetal/Syrian Trumpet base setup.
