Metal Smokeing :[

Recommended Posts

So I just bought this Hookah http://5starhookah.com/Khalil-Mamoon-Original-Tri-Metal-Oxid-W-Jumbo-Base-KMGO4.htm

I was so excited for it, until (Chreees) told me to stay away from oxidized metals. Because they turn ugly. I was also reading about how smoking out of certain metals (Heavy Metals ) Is extremely harmful.

I feel like shit now, & I regret buying my Hookah. :[

Navy, do not feel bad for buying that hookah! Many of us have Tri's and the OG Tri. Just take care of it, and you may have to get some polish to keep it nice and shiny.

Really, its a good choice man, especially after all the hookahs you went through online trying to choose one.

You did good man!

I just dont want it to turn ugly! I never new Oxidation goes away. & I was reading this thread http://www.hookahforum.com/topic/11584-rust-inside-the-hookah-pics/page__p__135012__hl__+hookah%20+oxidized__fromsearch__1#entry135012

& Oxidation is a dangerous thing to be smoking out of. I feel like big time shit. Excuse my language, but its the honest truth... Im thinking I might cancel the order and just get the Copper heart.

The metal is not going to kill you, but the tobacco might. As far as it getting ugly I imagine since its oxidized, the worst thing that will happen is it will come off and you will be left with a trimetal.

Navy.. the oxidation on the outside of the pipe isnt going to harm you at all. The black "oxidation" effect on the outside of those is known to come off however. (I think from overcleaning to be honest) They're still great pipes and I'm sure you will love it.

I suggest not cancelling your order. unless you dont like the pipe.. but then, why'd you order it to begin with? lol

Lets say the Oxidation comes off or what-ever. How will my KM look? Can you please post a picture.
I was also going through some dirt-old threads, and I read something about metal smoking being poisons and shit.. He posted pictures of it, and it looked FOUL!

if it wears off, it'll look like a normal tri-metal. no big deal

Smoking from metals can be poisonous, yes.. BUT it has to be heated to a certain temperature, a temperature the stem NEVER reaches. It's the fumes from the metal that cause the issues, not the simple use of them as a tube.

Carbon Monoxide is poisonous too, and we inhale it every time we puff from a hookah with coals on it.

*sigh*

I never said to stay away from oxide models because they turn ugly. I just said they're not worth it, because many people have had the oxide gradually come off over time. A good few people have just easily polished their hookahs and now own trimetals. You're paying way too damn much for something that is not as permanent as it should be. To me, it's a gimmick to justify how much they can charge. That model being $209 just proves my point. I mean hell, calling it a quadmetal is a lie within itself. It's an "oxide" or some kind of paint shit that is NOT a metal. I dunno... I'm just ashamed of Khalil Mamoon these days with the models they're putting out. They used to have much nicer ones back in the day.

But yeah, as I said in our fiftieth ( ) PM exchange, just stick with one of the cheaper trimetals (Trimetal, Pharonie, Halzone, etc.), or just hold out for the OG Trimetal whenever you see a good price for it again. Don't overpay for a KM. I personally wouldn't pay over $120 for one from any vendor, and even then it'd have to be a model I really like and want.

Now as for smoking from certain metals... My KM OG Tri has a stainless steel downstem. My Al Nawras has a brass downstem. My Elmas has a copper downstem. I smoke from all three and notice no ill-effects. As for the oxide being a concern, like I said above it's just some sort of paint shit on the outside of the shank, so it's not an issue whatsoever in terms of you inhaling it.

I was informed that oxidation of brass and copper is done by taking bull piss to the metals
[/quote]

lol...not, not to be a ass but i work with metals in jewelry most likely they use a solution called liver of Sulfur and it just basicly oxidizes the outside layer of the metal hence why it wears off with time or polishing, for those of you that own one that has come clean try buying some and re-doing it if you want, but be warned dont get it in the stem since that stuff stinks to high heaven and i dont think smoking it would be very good at all.

Just so you know smoking out of a brass or copper stem is technically more healthy. Scince it turns carbon monoxide into di-oxide. Just saying.
And dude seriously The Oxidized km hookahs are beautiful. he issue is just the "Oxidation" or paint that they electroplate or whatever to the hookah comes off because people over clean their hookahs this is not poisonous and never affects your smoke.

I personally would rather buy an oxidized Km than a normal one. Why cause I think they are beautiful.
Also the og tri is one of the best hookahs you can buy I have no Idea why you are so upset.

Get the one that you really want by all means, don't think twice. Either would be a great choice.

Often people end up removing the oxide finishes for one reason or another with beautiful results - my Temple with oxidization removed (ok well most of it) is my all-time favorite KM.

Personally I'm with chrees, paying that much for something that wont last for ever and end up looking like a pipe that costs 70$+ cheaper...i would just go with the trimetal like u did. But this is my own opinion.opinions are like butt-holes, everyone has one and uses it.
