Large Bowl broke =/

Recommended Posts

So I had cleaned my hookah for a good smoke later on in the night... and then placed it set up in my living room ready to get going whenever I wanted.. and for some unknown reason it fell over and the bowl broke. Geeze, now I have to settle for my small bowl till I purchase a new one. I want to buy the tangiers bowl but don't exactly have the funds to do so right now being a jobless college student finishing off summer. heh. I just might have to settle for a large bowl from one of the local shops here in San Antonio. We'll see.Anyone else have a breaking bowl story?

I broke my first bowl while washing it... I accidentally dropped it an inch or so into the sink. It didn't break, just cracked and caused a few leaks. I didn't have any other bowls at the time so I was screwed for a little while. Now it's upside down on my bathroom counter serving as a toothbrush holder

'Knock on wood' I've been damn lucky lately with my bowls. When I first started smoking, I somehow managed to break/chip them non-stop... Ever since then, I keep multiple bowls in my inventory just incase it happens again, but I haven't broekn a bowl for atleast a year+.I have something like 12 bowls, just in case :)
I used a bowl that was put together with electrical tape for a long time. Luckily I haven't broken a bowl in a while, which is strange because I am using an extra tall hookah.
Hehe, ductape here... Ductape worked well because you just wrap it around the cracked areas or whatnot, and then use a lighter and melt the tape. It melts over and seals the broken parts very well.

If ya can't duck it... fuck it! Never had a bowl break when I had my hookah... Although my roomie broke his bowl when washing it the second time way back when... it made me sad :/

When I first got my hookah, like the third day I had it, I was popping the stem out of the vase to clean it. The bowl went flying across the room and half of it shattered. I reconstructed the missing half of my bowl out of foil and duct taped it on and it actually worked perfectly. I ordered like 6 bowls from SS the next day and haven't broken one since, lol.TYLER

I've been really lucky with the bowl that came with my SocialSmoke hookah; I've knocked it off the hookah a number of times but haven't even managed to chip it yet.The first hookah I picked up (about 8 years ago) didn't even get properly christened because a well-meaning but rather clumsy dorm mate picked up the hookah by the stem and the base fell off. I thought everything was cool for the first second as the base bounced off the floor and then promptly shattered into a billion little pieces. It was a sad day in hookah land.

I had packed myself a nice bowl of Al Quemah Apple this morning and was about to start puffing away but alas I bumped the hookah and sent the bowl crashing to the floor. I was initially worried more about the coal leaving a nice burn mark on the hardwood floor. After I took a look on the floor, I discovered that, yes the coal was burning away nicely (thankfully no carpet in sight) but that my bowl was in 2, neat pieces. There is an upside to this sad tale though; I had to order myself a nice, new Tangiers bowl. With any luck, the new bowl will be awaiting me upon my return from my camping trip this weekend. I also ordered some Tangiers Kashmir Peach, Tangiers Cinamon (haven't seen this one reviewed) and some Japanese Golden coals.

Wow. That IS a happy ending. Low-fire clay bowls are more delicate and do tend to shatter from changes in temperature more. Tangiers bowls being high fired clay. I had a friend come over with a beautiful, older color scheme of Tangiers Bowl that makes for a 6-7 layer effect between shades of green, blue and gold. He was cleaning his hookah and dropped the bowl and the top sheeared off perfectly, leaving the main portion and the head! I still have it, its a nice demonstrator piece.
