R.i.p Thread. Memorial For Broken Hookahs And Accessories.

Recommended Posts

No Pictures but RIP my original KM Exotica Base, was leaving Fineouts house one night, no lights on, wet wood stairs down from his deck to the driveway.... sad sad day. Mourning period of at least 2 weeks on that one.

And RIP KM Fisherman base, replacement to my exotica vase. You never knew that my friends could be dumb enough to pick you up by your stem companion. And down you fell, onto the tile kitchen floor. Mourning period of 0 mainly because I was so utter pissed about how I had to move the entire fridge etc since the glass shattered everywhere.

Its a rough life we hookah smokers lead.. so many fallen soldiers :(

Haha, he looks guilty as fuck.

No beggin strips for you, good sir!

Note to self: Never buy a Tangiers bowl from Ty... It will have black crust built up on the rim due to not cleaning the bowl quick enough after smoking each time. :P

I am confused. If you clean a clay bowl right after smoking, wouldn't it pose a risk of the bowl cracking due to the sudden and drastic change in temperature?

Well, your bowl gets that crust buildup from letting the tobacco stay cooked on there for too long, i.e. leaving your pipe setup overnight or whatever after you are done smoking. I have always cleaned my bowls within 30 minutes of having finished smoking. This is why all of my phunnels look like new. Including that Crown Micro Phunnel I sold you- Didn't it look brand new when you got it from me? That was simply from cleaning it shortly after smoking. ;)

As for cracking, I'm not sure. Hasn't been an issue for me. These are the oldest bowls I own, a 2008 Small and a 2009 Mini:

As you can see, clean as a whistle. :)

Using warm water to clean your bowl helps with the drastic heat change. That's what I do

Yes, Chris, you are correct in that I usually leave my bowl sitting for a few hours/overnight after a big smoke session. This might bother me, except I like the look of the staining on the top. It turns a regular green bowl into a fancy dual-tone bowl :D haha
