squidget
So I started Keto this week to help lose my holiday weight that has been sticking around. Its been fairly busy work wise so today was my first smoke of the week. I got some mizo peach going and holy crap instant head rush! I stopped getting nicotine buzz sometime ago (cept for tangiers) and it seems my new diet has brought it back. That's a plus in the Keto column. Maybe I can replace carbs with hookah? Floataround
I believe it has to do with your glucose levels. You might have had lower levels due to the new diet you are on, assuming cutting back on sugars is part of it.
DrSmokes
Another fad diet... These fad diets recommend processed foods which are highly toxic to the brain, organs, and cells. Most people don't want to do a lifestyle change (er...can be referred to as a diet I suppose) that consists of a lot of greens, veggies, fruits, and organic, grass fed, no antiobiotics, no steriod injected, free range meats. "It's too hard" is what I hear all the time from patients, family, and friends that I try to help. The fact of that matter is, we need to eat the foods God has created and created us to eat, not the foods man has created and the ones the government says we should eat. If we were to eat naturally like that, we could be a much healthier, slimmer species. I haven't read into this diet much, just looks like a modified/glorified atkins diet that tells you to not eat much carbs. It's sad that society has been led to think that a carb is a carb, a protein is a protein, and a fat is a fat...there is no decersion between the actual food you are consuming (compare 2 products of same carb, protein, fat, and calorie contents, one being whole foods such as greens, fruits, and veggies, and the other being a nutrition bar/protein bar...innately we will say the natural food is better but ultimately, people's emotions get in the way and they will say the protein bar...er...glorified snickers bar in pretty packaging with clever marketing, is just as good and will suffice). Sorry if I am raining on your parade...I don't mean to knock your post down. But good luck with your diet.
joytron
A huge part is these diets are not meant for long term use. When you stop dieting you revert back to the way you used to eat which caused all the problems in the first place. By switching to a reasonable long term diet you are able to make changes that can last you a life time.
gramps
Eat like a king for breakfast, like a queen for lunch, and like a pauper for dinner. Make sure that more than half of the food you eat is not cooked. Fresh fruits and veggies really are good for you.

I got most of calories from carbs (cereal, snacks, beer etc.) and that's what I'm changing. I'm not eating bacon and cheese all day (for one think I don't eat the pig) I'm eating chicken, vegaetables, eggs etc. So it's not just about lowering carbs and lowering calories, its about eating the right carbs and the right calories.

I wonder since shisha is soaked in glycerin I assume I'm getting sugar as well as the nicotine?
Judy Oma
Anytime that you drastically change your activity level or diet, tobacco is likely to affect you differently. I do a lot of long distance biking in the summers, and probably if anything eat more than usual -- but a little Nakhla will put me on my back in a heartbeat. Good luck with the diet, be careful and use your common sense, as it sounds like you are!

Lots of great trails thru the national park system - can pretty much ride from Cleveland to the southern tip of Ohio with very little time on the road. For singletrack you've got to drive a bit tho! Biking takes up my "smoking" time for the most part when the weather is decent
agreed with dr.smokes fad diets only last so long and are only for so long, a good thing also to do is to just straight do blending fruits and vegis it clense you out super good and its SUPER good for you because its what was put on this earth for a good reason. but i am a vegetarian i have been for over 3 years, due to a stomach issue i got but i have notticed im at the point where i dont lose weight but i have not put a pound on in years stay pretty much the same constantly but if i become super active i start to shed the weight fast due to no unnatural fats inside me i always recomend trying it people always say oh its so hard its really super easy i mean my gf and i have been doing it longer then we have been with each other and its perfectly easy you can still eat out and you learn to love ur vegis and fruits more then just meat and what not which is good, or also try a raw food diet so that way you dont take any of the good minerals out of the vegis and fruit by heating them up. good luck man. but for the smoke getting you a buzz, stoping will get ur levels lower and of the nicotine in your body and of course not be used to it there for it hitting you harder
Haha sorry for the thread sabotage - ride a pretty stock hardtail Kona, picking up a 29er used this spring - they're very forgiving if your skill is a bit lacking! I tried some herbal tobaccos last summer - at one point I even got a nauseating buzz from starbuzz of all things - but I never could get past or used to that weird "burnt hay" flavor. Thinking about trying out some steam stones before giving up hookah entirely for the summer. Have already changed my diet and exercise regimen somewhat it prep for the upcoming nice weather and am already noticing an effect on my hookah smoking. Suddenly tangiers noir is starting to make me sick again
