Slurpy14
Hi, I'm a new member of this forum hoping to find some good advice. Anyways... I've recently had some complications with my medication interacting with nicotine so I can't smoke tobacco anymore. ='[ The main reason I smoke hookah is for the flavor so does anyone have any recommendations on nicotine-free shisha based solely on flavor? The only brands I know of so far are Hydro, Evolution, and Shiazo. Thanks in advance! Edited March 11, 2012 by Slurpy14
Chreees
Shiazo Steam Stones, hands down. Flavors are a bit chemically, kinda like Starbuzz if you know what I mean, but are good. I find these to be an excellent (and the best so far) alternative to hookah tobacco.
vendetta_revived
If you don't mind me asking, is the medication, long term?
mustang67n
I concur with Chreees. I've never had the shiazo stones myself, but I have tried many herbal shisha's.. The herbals tend to taste very... planty.. not a good plant, mind you, but more like a disgusting weed. Shiazo, on the other hand.. are entirely flavor, no plants to be burned to taste like a disgusting weed. Makes sense that it'd taste better
As long as I don't want any babies! I'm still not convinced that I have high blood pressure from the nicotine + birth control but I said I'd stop with the nicotine for the next 6 months to see if that's the problem. I think it's more likely from the 2lbs of steak I eat on a daily basis... I just ordered a 100g jar of the pina colada Shiazo stones. We'll see how that works out. Kathrynx
When I was on birth control, my blood pressure was still at a normal level. I also smoke on a daily basis, and doctors are always surprised at how healthy I am, considering smoking and being over weight. Hopefully the shiazo stones work out for you, and while I have never had them either, I have heard of the other alternatives referred to as "grass clippings"...and that does not sound pleasant to me. There are reviews for the stones in the review section, take a look and see what catches your eye and see what kind of heat you might need to get them to steam well. PS, just saw that you got pina colada, that sounds good!
ChicagoRSX
Hmm, didn't someone say the AF herbal was actually pretty good?
Stuie
AF Herbal is good. Orange is fantastic. Hydro is good. Saalaam is really good.

Arcane
Saalaam Tamarind is delicious. But, it gave me a pretty bad headache afterwards.
I know an IUD is an infinitely better form of birth control but it doesn't help with the paralyzing cramps that I get sent to the ER over every month so I'd have to keep taking the pill even with an IUD. Anyways, I got some Hydro and tea-based shisha from a local store to try while waiting for the stones. They're okay but definitely have some weird undertones. Hoping the stones are better. Rani
Should probably stick this in the "girly section" but............ For paralyzing cramps go get some Vitex from the health food or herbal store. Also called Chasteberry. Amazing stuff. Otherwise, do what you got to do for your health. Even if it means smoking grass clippings. 'Rani

Madzizm
I am new to shisha also and have been trying out nicotine free herb mixes as a substitute for those dreaded cigarettes. I purchased some nicotine, tar and tobacco free molasses mix branded 'soex' the variety of flavours are good and produce a lovely cloud. Not sure of any downsides of this brand though? Would reccommend the blackberry flavour if you do try it!
viper151
I mostly smoke herbal shisha and I've tried soex, hydro and AF. I've yet to try shiazo. But from the ones I've tried I most pleased with hydro. Soex produces too small clouds although the flavor is pretty decent. AF is too dry for me and I do not get a nice taste. Hydro is the best of both for me because the flavor is very good and the clouds are big and thicker than the other two

I have to lay off smoking in the summer at times, I do some long distance biking and unfortunately tobacco and endurance riding don't mix well for me frequently. Even AF soft black, of all things, will make me sick.

Don't they rank their tobacco strengths from "hot" to "mild" or something like that? I didn't know whether that relates to nicotine content or not ?! cyber wolf
Nope. Hot, Mild, and Cool are all references to how harsh it smokes.
