Going away to college

Recommended Posts

First of all don't move in with your friends if you want to stay friends.Secondly, only schedule classes at times and days that you know you can make it without probs. Finally,so you didn't run away from home in highschool and made it to college.Don't waste anyones time and money on your ass while at the same time have the time of your life. As for hookah, everyone knows it's better indoors.

As someone who just graduated college myself, here is my advice.1. Get good grades. Getting a C is practically an F since most schools require a 2.0 to graduate. If you stay above 3.0, getting internships and jobs after school is way easier.2. Live on campus the first 2 years. 3. Make friends with your RA and a 21 year old asap.4. Try things you've never done before.5. Learn how to ride the bus.6. If you throw a big kegger, get one keg of good beer for yourself and friends7. Steal as much food as you can from the cafeteria8. Major in something you like, don't worry about the money9. Go on a big spring break trip at least once10. Freshman chicks are easy as hell. Take full advantage -Ben

My biggest peice of advice is to join a fraternity. I know this may not sound appealing to alot of people and there is alot of negative ideas associated with "FRATS". However there is so much that can be gained in terms of your college career and the future that it is impossible to express my feelings on this simple post. I joined after I spent my first year in the dorms, I can't tell you how much better life can be. Most people think that fraternities are not for them, but at least on my campus, there is one for everyone. My brother and I are in different houses and I am happy with this, we are both very different he loves his house and I love mine. My house is a very goal oriented organization with the largest membership or campus as well as the best grades, and the IM championship. If you join the right house your grades don't have to take a back seat, mine have stayed right up there, I have a 3.70 and I only have 1 more term as a Construction Engineer, and I can safely say that I have had more fun in my 4 years then 95% of the student body. BTW I am a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon at Oregon State University. Just give it a chance and see if you like it, it will be worth your time.
