The k-peach was astounding. The Now with Melon is very close to the old Melon Blend. I am liking this stuff a lot.

I'm not sure I share the same sentiment regarding K-Peach. K-Peach is probably the only flavor in which I prefer the Noir line. The tobacco-y tones and the slight nicotine bite just go well with K-Peach.

However, what's truly impressive with Birquq flavorwise is that it the flavor is absolutely clean. I couldn't detect any tobacco undertones, no muddling, nothing. It was just K-Peach. Even Lucid isn't this clean.

Note: This opinion was formed only after 3 sessions. 2 standard and 1 necrobowl. Yes, I smoked a necrobowl just for you guys....ick.[/quote]

Yeah i prefer kpeach in noir bc i love the complexity and richness that the deeper blend adds to the kashmir.

I think he means that he will be ordering the new smalls (Eric said that he is trying to get the small phunnels back to their original smalls, and the new batch should be the correct size), when he orders the pico bowl, whenever they get produced.

Anyone know if they'll be releasing some of the old flavors in the new line, like orange soda and blue gumball?

There's a list of all of the flavors on .us I believe.

I don't think that's what he was asking, mavs...

From my understanding, Eric said some old flavors will be re-released in Birquq (as we have already seen so far), but we will also see new flavors in Birquq. It all just depends on what flavors work well in what lines. Like some flavors work well in Noir, but not Lucid. Or vice versa. Well, now add Birquq in with that.

So in a session yesterday I did notice that, as advertised, Birquq not only NEEDS less heat, it REQUIRES less heat. Rule of thumb, use a little less heat than you think you need, putting a little too much on spikes the harshness of the smoke very quickly.

Tip your coco's on their sides (or even just one of them). Problem solved. I've been using Katie's stonehenge method (well, she introduced me to it, anyways) since I discovered it and I find that it, coupled with a wind cover, is the best way to manage heat on any bowl. Easy peasy. Pack the bowl, throw on some coals and...

It's also in my opinion easier to pack. I used a small phunnel last night, threw in some about half-way full, pushed it down a bit, threw on a couple coconut coals on their sides and it was delicious and perfect. Kabuki (the connoisseur Siamese) also approves. Spent the entire session glued to my side sniffing the smoke.

No, I definitely knew what he was asking.

I meant that there was a list of the flavors Eric announced on .us, I just didn't elaborate on how many old flavors would make it into the new line because I wasn't sure off of the top of my head.

You smoked a half packed bowl of Tangiers with good results? I may have to ease up on my packing. The bowl I had smoked like it was over packed, but there was very minimal juice dripping out of the side of the bowl.

Yep..... Now I will say, I've been one of the lucky ones. I've never had bad luck with Tangiers. Eric used to say women have better luck because we read the directions on the package before we try and smoke it, lol.... (You know how men are with directions!)

With Noir, it may also have to do with living in Los Angeles, so I'm an hour away from it's manufacturing point so acclimation has never once been an issue for me . I've smoked plenty of half bowls just fine, though never one of those blow your mind extraordinarily good sessions. In the case of Birquq, the half bowl may work so well because it puts more distance between foil and tobacco, so it lessens the heat ratio, making it particularly conducive to half bowls. I'd suggest you try it, and if in the worst case it doesn't work for you, then you scrape off the barest top, repack and go for it the regular "over" packed way. Worth a shot I'd say anyway.

You said you pushed it down a bit. So was it packed less dense than it comes in the package?

I don't think I had a heat issue, I really snuck up on the heat; started with one coal up on its side.

Looking back on it though, I think I should have at least left more of a gap at the top. Maybe not half a bowl but more than I had.

My experience with Boysenberry was not consistent with what I am seeing from other people.

Maybe I'll try again this weekend.
