Goodguyscumbag
Hey everyone, thanks for having me here. My idea was a full outdoor hookah lounge. More zen like than like a crazy club, relaxing. I'd get a sizeable piece of land and landscape it, then make private rooms out of cloth, and have an open area in the middle. I don't know if anyone would want to be in a really relaxed place smoking hookah, most of the stuff I've seen tries to be all crazy like a club. I think not having a building would cut costs that I could pass onto the customer too, not sure though, haven't fully worked any of this out. Not sure what kind of music I'd play either, if any. Now if I did all of the normal hookah lounge stuff correctly, would you come to a place like this?
Chreees
I see that you're in Florida. I think your idea is very different from your standard lounge setting, and I like that it would be very laid-back and relaxed, but I see some potential issues- Weather (especially considering I'm sure people would rather chill in an air-conditioned atmosphere), people sneaking in and out, people more able to bring in things you don't allow, people more able to steal your items, etc.... I do like the idea, though. Just some things to think about. Get with the member keyvisuals on here. He started his own business in that he travels around and sets up at certain types of events. He calls it an "outdoor mobile hookah lounge." This is his website: http://huzzah-hookah.com/ Maybe he can help you work out some of the kinks. Judy Oma
I would certainly prefer an outdoor venue like you described!! I'm guessing that they are not common due to some of the reasons already mentioned, so there would be some difficulties to overcome, obviously. Sounds amazing, I wish you good luck! Judy Oma
I'm starting to wonder about the feasibility of a bowling alley/hookah lounge...
gramps
Skip all that. Go straight to a brothel/hookah lounge!
Pavo21
so yah if u want this to work it wont florida is horrible with weather and storms you'd be shut down a lot. but there is a idea that i've seen, now its a building but the whole front area opens and closes, there is a sperate part for a door and a back door. kind of like a garageso that its an indoor/out door that way u wont have to close buisness when u got ur heavy rain etc
Skoozle
I want a bowling alley hookah lounge
Can't you smoke in most bowling alleys anyway? It's been a while since I have been bowling, so maybe things have changed. That would be a great night out, hookah and bowling.
Would that not be awesome - might be a super long nite tho There was a great bar in Charleston that had an outdoor quoits pit (think horseshoes only rubber rings kinda) out back - they had hookahs you could rent and take out there too but alot of people brought their own. While waiting their turn, people would sit and smoke, and drink. So much fun. We tried doing that in our back yard but the neighborhood cats decided our sand pit was a great litterbox Edited March 27, 2012 by Judy Oma
Chreees
Oh man, I wonder how much the bowling alley 30 minutes away from my hometown has changed since the indoor smoking ban here in TN went into effect. Haven't been there in years. There was something about the old funky-smelling shoes, nachos and greasy burgers, and cigarette smoke-filled atmosphere that I really enjoyed. Just take the cigarette smoke out, put the hookah smoke in, and you've got yourself a winner!
Skoozle
Bowling alleys should protest that smoking is part of the bowling culture and should not be banned in bowling alleys. Similar to how the middle eastern community gets around the smoking ban in NYC. Judy, Charleston, SC? Sounds lime a wonderful place. ChildoftheHorn
My suggestion would be to make it similar to a modern Spanish Villa. A small courtyard with a building lining 3 sides. Put French doors all along the parts facing the courtyard. Have some space to walk a path inside the U shaped building. The French doors would allow you open everything up when its nice and close it when its not. Making a building like this can be done cheaply using steel aand it can't blow away. Also have curtains rung up in various places to make each "room" and allow for you to adjust the size of that room. It also lets them decide how much privacy they want. Make the curtains that face outward BE Sheer! That way when staff go by the catwalk in front, no one is having sex in your lounge. Plus, it also will help the waitstaff see if someone needs a drink, coals, etc. Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk

Trini
if you want to maintain the outdoor setting why not try one of these sun room ideas it may be more expensive but you get the same affect with out the worry of the weather
