EAK1791
Im guessing he's going to be selling these bowls, seems silly to design a new size and NOT make them available to the public. Otherwise he'll just get pestered like he does over the mini's. I advise patience.
I hope you are correct on this. I've been wanting a legit mini-sized Tangiers bowl forever. Chreees
These being released for retail sale is amazing news! I've been wanting the Minis to go retail for a long time now. I haven't even tried this bowl yet, but I can bet you it will be truly THE best mini bowl on the market! Congrats to those who got them in their samples. I hope to someday get one for myself. Coyote
I'm smoking my Pico for the 3rd time now... It fits about 15grams. Its perfect for a short session although so far the average smoke time is maybe a little over and hour. I packed it the exact same way that I pack the other Tangiers phunnels and am using 2 CH coals stonehenge style the whole time. On the Goza with the foil cap I have to take one off every so often but the foil cap concentrates the heat so without it I'm sure that the 2 coals would be fine as long as you rotate them occasionally. Christopher Mason Taylor
For those who have them: will they fit under a standard wind cover? Seems like their height could still be a problem, but maybe they're narrow enough?
king_lunchb0x
Thats about the average time for most of my sessions, an hour and a half at the most. So i will definitely be getting one of these

In my experience, my 'small' might actually fit in my standard wind cover if the wind cover didn't narrow off toward the top. This bowl appears to be much more narrow at the top, leaving open the possibility that it could work with a standard wind cover.
Yikes too many quotes here - The chopstick suggestion is very good - it works quite well with many bowl designs and what I consider to be a "standard" wind cover around 6-7" tall. The new nano is as tall as the small newer version phunnel - from what I remember, my old mini phunnel was maybe almost an inch shorter. Fits fine with a standard wind cover on my 22" narwas, even with the male/female bowl adaption. However I need a larger windcover, even with the small size of the bowl head, for my larger KM's and Narwas, partially due to the size and height of the mod grommet I use. I suspect that you might want to invest in a tang windcover - I don't know for sure tho, my windcovers (7.5" and 10") are homemade out of rolled aluminum sheeting and rivets. Hope this helps a little. Edited March 26, 2012 by Judy Oma

ChicagoRSX
I don't get it, why make a prototype that gets the public all clamoring, then not release it, didn't Eric do this with another small phunnel, or was that other one released in a very small quantity?
mushrat
Well, the mini was originally a special order for a lounge someplace that just didnt catch on at the time. Then he told us about it, had a few sent out, and BOOM. I call it excellent marketing.

Coyote
Yeah it's like when they release a new sandwich recipe... They try it at a few locations to see if people like it before they put it everywhere... If they do. Im not sure thats the best analogy in this case but still... It seems so far that its the perfect bowl for birquq in any case. *Comments in this post do not necessarily reflect those of Tangiers Tobacco*
ChicagoRSX
Well there is demand for the micro, but I've never heard about him planning on making one. I'm not talking about the Pico bowl.
Chreees
I thought Eric said on .us that these were going into production soon? In fact, here's his post about it:
Some people are beginning to see these new Pico bowls in samples. Two design points I want to mention: 1. The phunnel holes are smaller...to limit airflow so the bowl doesn't go "burny" when taking a full hit like you see on Alien Phunnels and knock-off bowls. Too large a hole on a small bowl makes the charcoal heat up too much in relation to the size of the tobacco available to vaporize and scorches the tobacco. 2. The bowl sides are straighter, making a more cylindrical bowl, to reduce tapering smoke volume that you see in larger bowls (due to the smaller diameter further down). So the bowl will have a flat, full smoke volume until it dies. They will be released in regular production soon.
This leads me to believe they will be released in regular production soon, and that it doesn't rely on Birquq's success. But perhaps this was implied somehow and not clearly stated? I dunno... Either way I hope the new line is very successful (I'm sure it will be), and that we can all buy these bowls soon.
