Someone's Selling This Locally. Any Ideas?

Recommended Posts

This pipe's listed locally. I'm probably going over to look at it today. Anyone have any ideas what it might be, and more importantly what it would be worth to pay (assuming it's in good working shape other than the missing ash tray)?

That pic is tiny, especially on a phone, but it looks to me like a generic Egyptian pipe.

Looks similar to the one I have. Check to make sure the hose port and puurge valve are connected well. Check that it is air tight.

I wouldn't pay more than $25-$35 for it.

Agree with Mush, $45 bucks for a good condition hookah, generic or not, is seriously not bad at all...

We were supposed to meet up this weekend. After saying he was available, dude flaked. Doesn't bode well for future dealings with him. I might take a look at it still just out of curiosity, but I doubt I'll be coming close to that asking price unless it's in great shape and built like a tank.

Buying a used hookah kinda weirds me out. I'm not sure why, maybe it's a touch of OCD but I just can't ever know how it was treated... or where it's been

Honestly, that's a healthy fear.

Honestly, my biggest thing is used hookahs on forums tend to go for pretty high prices for something that's undoubtedly been peppered with the germs of other people. Coming from headphones forums, used ones in great shape would still go for about half the street price or less, and that's just touchings someone's hair and skin. These things get germs from peoples' mouths. Just seems insane. The reason I was considering this one is that it was still significantly less expensive than I'd pay for a nice Egyptian new, and if it turned out it was exceptionally sturdy in person, it might have been well worth it. No way I'd pay $80-100 for a KM from a member on here when I could buy one brand new for $60 or less from a decent vendor. Edited by Christopher Mason Taylor

This is why I always fully soak and scrub my hookahs when I get them used from a fellow member.

Not sure where you'll find a brand new KM for $60. Mind putting up some links? Overall, most of the prices I see for good quality pipes on here being traded seem about right.

EDIT: I also think it has a lot to do with just opinion of what something is worth... For example: To me, an older KM is worth more than a new one. Why? I think they used to build them better back a few years ago. Simple as that. This is why I personally would price an older used KM slightly higher than a newer used one.

the pipe is not the thing that has germs. its the hose. i have only bought two hoses off the net and they were both like new and washable.

every hing i buy used i use a touch of dish soap and hot water to wash out. for the hoses i used rubbing alcohol to rinse them out.

and if anyone thinks that the pipes that come from the facotry are clean they are very very wrong. you should see some of the sludge ive washed out of a new KM,.... at least the used pipe was used and the seller survived to sell it to me
