So I'm still stumped on my next purchase (very hard to please) and I was wondering from those of you who have had a Farida, what you prefer. Some of you I know have chimed in on how KMs aren't what they used to be, and the last time I was in the market, that was the king of all hookahs (shows you how long it's been hah!). I know there are Elmas fans too, but Elmas just doesn't strike my fancy for some reason. So, to the point now: Farida? Or KM's current line? Why did you choose what you did?

I would say Farida. I think they are built really solid, weigh a ton, the welds look good, and I am a huge fan of the syrian influences. They definitely have their own unique look and I think as far as quality they are priced much more respectively than KM.

I have both what really matters is what you prefer. Farida is heavy and solid. Kms can be solid or hollow depending on model. The farida has an ever so slightly tighter pull but is extremely close to the km flow. Both purge very well. It just depends on what looks more attractive to you. Keep in mind km has types of pipes farida has ... farida doesnt offer anything km doesnt. Farida is essentially a brass egyptian pipe w copper core. Km offers setups similar to that. But km also has tons of other setups farida doesnt have. With that said if you are gonna build a large collection id go w farida firsr bc km will always be around. Farida ... who knows

Im kind of partial to the "art-work" on KM's, maybe a little biased since I own one, but I think the laser engraved parts are a little too machined for me. I appreciate that handworked look.

I guess I am just a fan of the style. Both seem to be incredible though.

If you're looking at just today's KM models, then I'd go with Farida. Their styles interest me a lot more than what KM is putting out these days. It probably has a lot to do with the Syrian-esque looks some of them have, as Jess mentioned above (most of you know how much I love Syrian pipes). Don't put too much weight into my opinion, however, as I myself have never smoked from a Farida unfortunately. So I can only speak in terms of looks alone. Either way you go, I'm sure you'll be happy. Just look at both until you find a model you really like and "have to have." :)

farida if you want something to display, KM if you want a work horse.

Have you owned a farida? I think they are built better than the KMs I have seen.

I've never smoked out of a Farida, but I would go with a Kamanjah Wheat hookah myself.

This man speaks truth. I like a lot of the faridas but the single wheat is one of my all time favorite shanks. I love mine

I feel like I'm buying a car lmao this shouldn't be this difficult -_- lol and the votes are tied 4-4...seriously?! haha :unknown:

You're making it difficult yourself mate. Get a farida and you will love it. Get a KM and you will love that too. It's all about what you prefer aesthetically.

I am not going to vote because there are too many variables. Between the two brands: flip a coin. I trust both, I think both are great products, Farida might even be better. BUT! I think if you are choosing between two things that are equal, or close to equal, it will come down to brand loyalty if there is any, price, and style. Look at all of them, choose which you like the best, that's the best one.

Cruise on over to:
Texas Hookah
8413 Almeda Rd Suite Q3
Houston, TX 77054
and look at the KMs in person you should be able to tell the level of quality of the current KMs. Unfortunately, their Solid KMs are all $150 and up, so no need to actually buy anything there, unless their store prices are reasonable.
I recently picked up a ceramica and out of the 6 the store had on display, 1 had very good workmanship and the other 5 looked like they had been built by small children. If you can find a well built KM at a reasonable price, grab it, otherwise I would take my chances with a Farada if buying online.

KM's are still excellent pipes. But I voted for Farida simply because there aren't as many out there, so you'd have a more unique piece.

As far as style goes, let's just say that if Farida made a trimetal, I'd get it in a second.

I just happened to find this company's website late late last night and was thinking about making a jog down there soon with a buddy of mine. They seem to have pretty much everything the major online outlets have. Good suggestion though on looking at the actual pipes

I hope you find one that is put together well. I also hope their instore prices are 1/3 - 1/2 of their online prices.

Look at the welds on the hose and purge ports, top and bottom, Look for gaps between cast parts (there shouldn't be any) take the purge ball out and shake it to see if there is stuff ratteling around in there. Make sure the bell at the bottom of the stem is in good shape and secured to the downstem. Check the welds around the bottom of the tray support and at the top of the bowl port. Check the bowl port for sharp edges where the outer stem and inner tube are attached.

Happy hunting!
