Uriamium Glass

so my idiot friend broke my hookah vase today :/. so i got to thinking about doing something noone has done before and then it came to me. what about making a vase out of a uranium glass. ive been poking around some and thus far have not found anything in the right style that might be used as a makeshift vase. anyone have any idea where i might find such a vase?? this is the closest thing ive found so far that may work http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=320890819986&index=22&nav=SEARCH&nid=95395713442. i think it maybe to tall though any thoughts suggestions ?

I'm thinking that glass would be way too thin (judging by what you showed in the image)

the glass used on hookahs is usually MUCH thicker than that.

OMFG I had this SAME thought today. Lets embark together to get uranium glass bases. Pretty sure they will have to be custom made. Maybe we can piss in santinos ear about this?

i found one actual hookah vase from the 1800"s through a auction house but they want 850$ but it would be cool as heck i will keep looking. sorry about any spelling errors but my phone keyboard is kinda a pita to work with

We would pretty much have to see if Santino could do it, He is the only glass worker I know of around around here that has tremendous experience with a variety of different things. I'm damn sure he could do it. And maybe, just maybe.... if we sweet talked him enough.... we may be able to get him to make a full uranium glass hookah. I however think any endeavor involving uranium glass would be tremendously expensive. Again, would have to check with Santino at crown hookahs

ya i think thats why they stopped producing it in the first place. i mean yhis still make it but its like beads and crap like that. you know what i was looking at that may work and wouldbt be to expensive is decanters there thick enough and theres tons of them that are big enough online for around 20_50$ Edited April 26, 2012 by Edward Kocanda

Here is the email response I got from santino. Not looking good.

This is an interesting question and I'm frankly quite impressed someone even knew about Uranium glass. The truth is, it's <expletive> rare. I've been trying to secure some tubing for a few months to make mouth pieces, but I haven't found any. Truthfully, I'd love to, but it's so rare that a hookah made of that glass would cost some ridiculous amount, probably near the $600-700 mark, and that's a lowball. So to answer your question, hopefully someday. Thanks a lot Joe, have a good weekend.
