dubLeE
I've had this hookah for about a year. It was given to me by a friend but neither of us know what type/brand of hookah it is whatsoever. The stem does not come apart whatsoever. The inside has gotten pretty bad and I can't figure out a way to take it apart to clean it. It seems to be a piece in that the stem is sent through the outside curved pieces and soldered in place. The base is in PERFECT condition, so potentially just replace the stem with a nice, new one. Anyone have any suggestions? Here are some pictures: http://dublee.com/prog/IMG_0642.JPG http://dublee.com/prog/IMG_0643.JPG http://dublee.com/prog/IMG_0644.JPG Thanks! CO_hookah
From what I can tell, I would guess a generic Egyptian. And that's not from reading the base
Skoozle
I would say chinese based on the screw on bowl and hose ports. Either way, it may unscrew, but with it being old and dirty, you would probably destroy it trying to take it apart. You can get a replacement stem from a number of places. Here are just a few: NazarHookah.com 5StarHookah.com HookahCompany.com
dubLeE
hahaha i guessed Egyptian from the word Egypt! =) Skoozle, you have any recommendations for a stem? Don't really care for the look of it, just want a quality stem that I can take apart and clean. I totally destroyed the original stem trying to take it apart. HA! For now, I took the bowl from the big hookah and use it on my Mya QT and it hits like a champ! The original bowl on the Mya QT sucks. I would like to add UltimateHookah.com and Kasbah.us to that list of vendors that are good to buy from. I guess Hookah-Shisha.com as well, but they're basically the same as HookahCompany ever since H-S bought HC. As for quality brands, look at Al Nawras (Syrian), Khalil Mamoon (Egyptian), Farida (Egyptian), Elmas (Turkish), and Mya Saray (only Chinese brand I'd buy). Btw, I doubt that vase is Egyptian either even though it says Egypt.
mushrat
It looks like a Havana stem. And just because EGYPT is sheaply etched(?) in the base doesn't make it any less Chinese.

You could likely use the QT stem on the bigger base if you like, although you might think it looks funny to have a small stem on a big base. It will be stable as hell. If you want to get a replacement stem for the green base, we will need some dimensions before we can point you in the right direction. Measure the inside diameter of the base opening and the overall height of the base. Then we can tell you which stems will fit. If you want a stem you can take apart, get a Mya stem. With the take apart stems like Mya and the one you had, there is a common chamber (where the hoseports screw into) that is next to impossible to clean. Also, the threaded connections on a take apart stem wil eventually wear down and cause air leaks. I would recommend getting a one piece stem though. the down tube will be one straight tube and very easy to clean with a stem brush. Good places to buy from, just don't offer separate stems.

Chreees
Ah okay, good point, Ashley. Yeah, we will definitely need dimensions then. It may be best to just get a whole new setup, though, if he wants something other than a Mya, as I'm not too sure anything other than a Mya would fit that vase. Guess that's what I was thinking of instead of places that just had stems. Dub- Get us those dimensions and while you're at it, take a look around and see what you think you like and we'll help you out!

Tyler
Yeah you did lol, I don't usually read threads all the way through on things like this if I (think) know them.
dubLeE
Woah! A lot more responses than I expected! So I measured the base as is: Bottom of the base: 7.5 inches Height: 9.5 inches Opening: 1.75 inches Definitely prefer to explore finding a cheaper buy stem only solution but looking at the pricing for just the stems potentially, it might seem more practical to just invest an extra $40-$50 and buying a whole new setup. Thank you everyone!
joytron
Just buy a whole new set-up, that vase in ungodly and getting a nice hose will do you wonders. You could talk to mark at kasbah.us he has some syrians he was selling for $75 shipped. The quality is okay but for the price its quite the steal. Also if you are looking for ease of cleaning mahir at nazarhookah has the farida mini brass pipe that is pretty small but should be built like a tank. If you go with the syrian keep in mind the hose is pretty cheap and replacing it will make a pretty big difference.
Chreees
A Mya Saray shank (look at pages 4 and 5 on this site to see some Mya replacement shanks: http://www.myasaray....store/index.asp ) or a nice Syrian shank (Al Nawras brand, if you can find one, or check out Kasbah's vendor thread in this link to see if he has any of those brass Syrian shanks left maybe- http://www.hookahfor..._40#entry544595 ) would be a proper fit for those dimensions I think if you absolutely have to keep that vase.
Excellent suggestions, Ashley. I totally forgot about that second Mya site! That is an EXTREMELY good price on that small Egyptian shank, and looks like it'd fit his base just fine. Dub, I was going through and seeing if I could find some good prices on a new setup for ya if you just want a whole new rig. Remembered Nazar has some good deals on these, which I've heard good things about: http://www.nazarhook...5m631jv25ojv3d0 Might be worth checking out as well. Trying to give you as many options as possible.
