Chreees
Well, the award for most unhelpful picture-taker of the year goes to... some dude on CL selling a hookah pipe. Big surprise. We need better pics, man. Ask them for a pic showing the entire shank, and perhaps closeups of the tray holder up top, and the hoseport and purge valve. THEN we can maybe get a better ID on this thing. Also, avoid that double-head bowl like the plague. If he insists you take it, then shoot a video of you breaking it or something. Anything is better than actually using it.
kenshinx23
i know i texted the guy for more info we will we what happens, if that coloring is etched in, (kinda like a tattoo) ill pick it up.
Chreees
Whatever it is, I can guarantee you it isn't worth $200. You'd be a fool to pay that much for it.
kenshinx23
yea i offered him 40 and he didn't get offended, so im gonna assume he is willing to work on the price, but my limit is 70 if its not a Chinese made.
kenshinx23
not the best but yea, told him to show me the purge valve and he didn't know what that is, so im gonna go with china maid. king_lunchb0x
Yea a pic of the tray holder and assembled hookah would be perfect but don't think he can put it together right anyways. I thought (but might be wrong) that some syrian shanks were painted or had coloring on the metal. But more then likely Chinese made
Chreees
Lol, tell him he failed at getting better pics... I'm starting to think it's one of those gawdy painted Syrians.
dizzbizz
The tray is the same as my gf's syrian and the stem looks syrian to me. I say syrian but unless we can see the whole thing anyone's guess is as good as any
skeetsak
i say syrian copy. that is a genaric ash pan that is still wrapped in plasti.. if he cant get a picture of a hose port and purge valve... i would stay away. you cant even tell if it has rust or anything from those pictures. as it stands i say fake bc of the two chinese bowls pictured, the genaric replacement tray, and the "etching" looks machined very few syrians are painted. the ones ive seen that are painted are very nice. this one does not look like those i could be completely wrong these are just my initial thoughts Edited May 3, 2012 by skeetsak
Chreees
The tray is a "snap-on" Syrian tray. The Al Nawras I have coming soon has one just like it, except brass. Here is an example: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=288431691242209&set=a.288346337917411.69172.219214201497292&type=3 Because it takes this type of tray, it can be concluded that it is indeed Syrian. Now if it is Al Nawras brand or not (Yes they do have some painted models, but IMO are gawdy), that can not be determined unless we get some actual decent pics. Why the hell can't the guy just take a pic showing the shank in it's entirety?? Either way, the etchings look fine for a Syrian shank. Regardless, I wouldn't bother talking to him anymore, unless he can be talked down to more around $50, and can deliver you some pics that are worth a damn. Stuie
I know exactly what he has. Cheap Syrian Copy. Pretty sure I know where he got it too. Sold by an Israeli company whose service and shipping is so bad I will not mention their name. Very similar models on that site and 100% match on the tray, 95% match on the stem. PASS the copies sell for $

Some of my Syrians come with trays like that and are still in plastic, doesn't mean they are fake, they do have plastic bags in Syria. Mine also came w/ mod bowls, doesn't mean anything. Just means the importer decided to bring them w/o bowls because likely he had a large stock of his own he would rather use. According to a contact, Nawras actually has been making a lot more painted models of late as opposed to more traditional ones. It's what sells better to more people it seems. You will see painted Nawras pipes all over the Middle East. Chreees
No, as you can see in my signature, I sold my KM OG Trimetal. Sticking with three pipes. The brass, the red wood, and the brass inlay is just sooooooo sexy. I had to grab it! I think this was the only model like this. He has another one that is taller and nickel-plated I believe (somewhat similar to the one Woodsy posted on .us).
