ChildoftheHorn
This review is about this listing: http://www.hookahforum.com/topic/45445-hookahs-and-other-stuff-for-sale/ I bought the AF Solid by essentially offering him $70 +shipping which was another $20 = $90 If the Hookah was in OK condition, as appeared and somewhat described by the listing, it would have been a fair price. However, the hookah was unusable and had lots of damage to critical parts. Here are the PM's back and forth: ME: Sent 17 April 2012 - 08:21 PM Tyler, got in the hookah today. Dude even just rinsing in water would have been nice. Also, why did you not tell me that the stem had a massive crack in it? I just spent the last hour welding and soldering this thing back together. It was literally the whole length of the downstem. TYLER: I didn't know about any crack in the downstem I out tape around it to make sure it didn't crack durin shipping and I wrapped the hell out of everything so I don't know about that the stem and base should have been washed off I had my roommate do it before shipping it out if he didn't in sorry ME: You would not have seen them until you cleaned it off as it had a very thick layer of green gunk. Oh and red rot, which I am in the process of buffing it all out, you can see some of it in the pictures. That downstem and the ports were a thick green-black color. The color you see in pictures is after hitting it with a dremel and metal polish. I have only fixed the major crack seen here, but you can see where the crack is and where it has been filled and partially cleaned. There are two more cracks pictured here that are on the other side of the stem that I have not gotten to. . I was hoping to discuss this with you so that I would not have to leave negative feedback and show pictures of it. The rest of the stem is fine, but this downstem was pretty messed up The inside was caked with so much residue that my thin syrian brush would hardly go in and out the first 3-4 scrubs. Sloshing koasher salt and lemon juice through the stem has almost gotten rid of the cigarette smell and most of the residue. It was really bad, just glad to have gotten to it when I did. I only discovered the cracks after running water through it showed leaks in the stem. Simple metal polish showed the basic cracks, but they have to each be polished down to the brass for the solder to stick as nickle plate won't really hold it well. The cracks are not new as new cracks would have been shiny on the inside. HE NEVER RESPONDED weeks later! He is NOT a trustworthy Seller.
Tyler

I stated the item didn't come with grommets, which would be the only "unuseable" aspect of the hookah that was sold.
The hookah was in use and worked fine a mere 3 days before being sold, multiple eyewitnesses from tinychat can verify its use.
The trade also included many free items
If there was a problem why didn't you take pictures before "repairs" took place? I know the downstem wasn't the prettyist looking but there were no cracks in it that I saw when I took it apart and cleaned it nor when my roommate cleaned it before bringing it to me at Fedex. Additionally, I saw no cracks when I packaged it at the FedEx store. Possibly the cracks occured when you took off the tape but as you said, if they were new they would have been more "shiney"
I know a mod contacted you and me privately and I offered a refund of the money for the item back, but you decided to "make repairs" before complaining?
You have a history of complaining about trades made while I have a history of selling/buying on the forum -- I've never had a complaint before. mushrat
We now have both sides of the story. I am going to lock this so that it doesn't escalate. There was a moderator facilitated discussion between all the parties and a refund was offered.
