Venger
Someone I know who smoke a mya told me he packs his standard mya bowl and put one coal directly in the middle and never on the sides. So I tried it and to my amazement three rounds of coal in (over 2.5 hours) and still getting great flavor,no harshness and great clouds. Chreees
I haven't done that since my noob days, when I used a Inhale brand hookah, those Hookah-Hookah shots, and Three Kings quicklight coals... I stopped doing it when I signed up here, also finding out the Mya QT was the hookah I should have purchased (amazingly got a refund on the Inhale). Also got some Al Fakher and Coconaras from SouthSmoke and threw the H-H shots away. Never looked back...
Stuie
That's how i usually do it. Phunnels get coals on the edges, egyptians and crowns in the middle.

Chreees
I should add that when I had my Crown Micro Classic I did put one coal in the middle of it. Maybe I will try putting a coal or two in the middle of my Egyptian or Turkish bowl... How do you do it, Stuie? Just two cocos in the middle? I don't know if it makes a difference but I use Japanese coals exclusively and since the heat is generally lower than say, cocos, it might have something to do with it working so well. [/quote] really? i still put them on the sides of my egyption bowl. i feel like heating the bowl is more effective than just burning straight down through the bowl.. no i have to try it
Bawhee
depends a lot on packing, used to smoke like that all the time... if you dont take too many puffs in a row it works just fine, if you smoke non-stop like me it tends to get a little harsh
Venger
this was a standard mya bowl with al faker vanilla and nakhla mint mixed. one coco dead in the middle of the bowl.4 rounds 3+ hours. i was surprised how well it smoked. ray
Stuie
I put 1 on my Crown Classic, windcover if over packed. I put 2 on my Egyptians and Hemi Bowls. A little off center of being side by side. Where the ends line up with the middle of the other coal... like a figure 8. Move around and out as the get lower. That way I don't scorch the edges like I use to.
