Epoch
I've been using my Alien for all my Tangiers ventures lately, and about to pick up my first batch of Birquq. Anyone have any special packing or heat managing tips for this setup?
Dereksd
Some flavors took heat differently with me. ILTOBC I was able to use more heat but stuff like boysenberry needed way less. Kinda hit or miss
r1v3th3ad
I pack it like any other tangiers in an alien...start with two razan coals balancing over the edge and slowly over 20 mins move them inward. DO NOT leave bowl sit unsmoked for any more than a few minutes, it WILL burn too easy I love alien phunnels
mushrat
practice... And ya, in general the stuff uses even less coal than other Tangiers.

Are Razans shaped like cubes or flats?
r1v3th3ad
They are flats...when I say over the edge I mean maybe half of each coal is on the bowl at start of session...second round can be tricky for heat too, sometimes I can put them directly on, sometimes it burns if I put them directly on...lately I've been having perfect sessions with birquq in a shallow gen 1 alien....the later models are deeper and way more forgiving with heat management, I just prefer the performance etc. of my gen
