That, or just to increase sales in general. People really want the Pico, so of course a lot of people are gonna be like, "Well, I really don't want to buy the package, but I really want that damn bowl."

I'm not going to succumb to the sale tactic, no matter what the motive is. I'll wait until I can get just the bowl.

Thats different you needed tobacco I don't at the moment and while the choice is his to make I don't like it but I would have more than likely ordered other items or even a pack of tang to justify the shipping but this package deal is BS.

BTW Eric said on .us that the picos would be out end of last week so with the holiday I expect most vendors will have them this week. HJ said he is picking up Tuesday and won't require a package deal. Edited May 29, 2012 by dzigner

Eric has already said on .us that he is selling the Picos (and the #7 phunnels) to vendors for the same wholesale price that he sells all the other Tangiers bowls for (Small/Medium/Large Phunnels... Well, I guess the Larges are discontinued now, IIRC, but still). We saw a bit more of a markup than usual on the #7 bowl both at 5Star and UH, which I kinda understood since it was a limited release. I'm wondering if this will be the case as well for the #8 Pico, even though it is going to be a regular production bowl. Will these vendors mark them up a bit more than other Tangiers Phunnel sizes just because they are hot and new, even though they paid the same price for them as if they were to buy Smalls, Mediums, or Large Phunnels?

So if people don't come unglued jumping the gun, we'll all end up having the opportunity to buy them at a reasonable price from all of the vendors who carry Tangiers bowls. Patience is a virtue guys..... And any vendor pushing buttons isn't one we should be rushing to deal with in the future anyway, right?

Oh ok. Word. "Regular price" might change depending on quantity bought though. Plus taking into account how much it costs to actually get the bowl to the vendor, if any were damaged when they arrived, or any other number of variables that go into creating a price for a certain product. Maybe someone will charge more for a Pico so they can charge less for tobacco. Some people on the west coast have the luxury of just driving down to get them, while others have to run the expense and risk of shipping. I wouldn't say that a vendor who has something priced 1-2$ over the cheapest vendor is being greedy. Now its it was $5 over then yeah MAYBE....

I think more greed is from the consumers who buy as many as they can then sell them on auction sites or forums for over retail lol.

Also Large, Medium, and Small Tangiers Phunnels are also regular production bowls which are "hot items". They sell out as soon as they are produced leaving many consumers with their wallets out and no bowls to buy. I haven't seen any vendors allowing price fluctuations depending the the production quantity I don't think...

I believe the deal currently being offered from 5star can be seen as an unfair one. Sure, they are not forcing anyone to buy from them, but offering the bowl ONLY in a package deal? and therefore making consumers buying tobacco with it if they want the bowl doesn't seem very ethical. May be it's a good deal if you are low on tobacco, but if you think you already have enough, and don't want to shell out for more tobacco, then you're sol basically.

I guess if you choose only to buy from that vendor then you are SOL... There are a number of online vendors and retail stores across the US that are carrying Tangiers products. One enterprise has not cornered the Tangiers Pico market. There is plenty of healthy competition between our vendors.

:twocents:On another note I'm kinda surprised that people don't like the package deal. I thought we all run through tobacco pretty quick anyway. You get a Tangiers bowl, Tangiers Tobacco, and the same coal we use at the Tangiers lounge. In some cases you get an oyster fork too. It kinda takes the guess work out of it because that's how we do it.

Id rather see more people getting the packages than just getting the tobacco and trying to pack it in a Egyptian with QLs. Just people I want people to have a great experience. Not everyone is on the forum and getting awesome advice. Some people are just wondering around, buying tobacco, not reading the instructions clearly printed on the package and taking advantage of the helpful resources (including HF website, and phone numbers). So if they get a package, its just a matter of figuring out how to use it... which is not hard to do when you have all the tools included.
