Skoozle
A Q-tip? No wonder it took you so long to get back with pics.
mattarios2
It only took me like 30 min or so to do both sides with a q tip. If you use a rag or polishing pad the polish gets inside the etchings and takes off the oxidization so it ruins the purpose of doing it. The web says use a torch but the torch even when lightly going over the pipe from a distance it was turning the oxidization purple, so I was forced to re shine the pipe then re oxidize it a second time. â€On
Well, at least we know how to turn our pipes purple now! Haha. Looks good man, and good on ya for actually doing it.

mattarios2
Thanks fellas! Pavo - exactly! I am going to spray it down probably one or two more times, and then do a final shining on the exterior so the exterior will pop even more and then it will be complete! Pavo21
yah man for sure , i think they have to do it multipule times to get it perfect, i think you are exploring a bigger world then most of us hookah people are, by doing this yourself. and i applaud you for that. mattarios2
Haha thanks man, I appreciate it. I always was intrigued, especially once I got my 639 and seeing how the etchings were black. Personally I think it makes the etchings stand out 10x more.
atalanta
You can get a torch at a kitchen supply place for $20. It's often sold as a creme brulet (sp?) torch. I got one that I use for silver work. The flame can be pencil point so you can concentrate on the acid etching. but, DO IT OUTSIDE cuz it's gonna stink and it won't be good to breathe. mattarios2
Yeah, I tried torching, didn't go so well so I decided to stick with just polishing it with metal polish.
