Hookah Websites & Anonymous Checkout

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

Was wondering if anyone knows any Hookah sites that allow for anonymous checkout or if anyone has any information about age verification on websites that sell hookah tobacco in the United States and/or more specifically California.

Can hookah websites have annoymous checkout, where age wasn't verified or are accounts required?

Does a checkbox, suggesting that you've read over terms and conditions which include a line stating that you must be over 18, count?

Thanks in advance all!

hehe.

Thanks for the reply, but I'm not a 15 year old posing as a 25 year old, if thats what you're suggesting! :)

I'm curious about coversion rates by requiring accounts versus allowing for anonmous checkout for hookah companies and the legal implications that come along with it.

I was reading a blog about a similar subject. I can PM it to your if you're interested.

Good info, mattarios2. Thats basically what my research has told me - conversions are significantly higher when allowing for anonymous checkout.

Do you own a hookah website, or DogLoverStore what you're referring to?

A valid point, and I fully agree.

However, I believe the law is that you must be 18+ to purchase Tobacco and Tobacco related products (shisha, and hookahs in our example).

I've seen alot of "5%/10% off your first order for signing up" promos, which would certainly incentivize people to sign up, but I'm betting anonymous checkout still has alot higher conversion rate.

The burden of proof for the sale of tobacco is on the SELLER, not the buyer. And we ALL know how honest people can be when you ask them are they 18 or 21 right. You have to have the information and the ID check to cover your OWN ass when it comes to selling tobacco products. If the person doesn't want to provide the seller with the information needed for them to legally protect themselves they can buy the tobacco someplace else. After all, would you sell a beer to someone without checkign their ID just because they said they were 21 if YOU were the one who got busted?
