I Have A Game Plan....maybe

Recommended Posts

I'm not even sure if this is worth posting but here goes.

Since I have a "job" now, I have some money to spend and I figured what better to spend it on besides hookah? I will state that I do really enjoy the hookah setup I got from Nazar, so don't get me wrong, but I think that it's time to change things up and have it look exactly how I want it to look. I've been looking around and have decided on a black and white/silver setup that I will be hopefully compiling over time. Today I am hoping to buy a silver wind cover and small (gloss black) tangiers phunnel bowl. Next will either come the Syrian trumpet vase I have been eyeing for a while or the black and silver Razan hose. If I ever get the money to replace the stem then that will be all silver. So, I think this is what I will be heading towards.

It's nice to have a game plan sometimes. Oh and just yesterday I shipped out some of my tobacco in a trade with Skoozle, so I will be getting to try Tangiers Lucid and some Shiazo Steam Stones, which I've been wanting to try for a while now. Yay.

What if you got this:

And replaced the tray with a regular silver one and got silver hose, and maybe that base you were wanting.

Great, now I want this...

Sounds nice. Do you have a stem in mind?

Also, what is your set up now? It'd be nice to see whats getting replaced.

Side Note: Your tobacco will be in the postal system within the next couple of hours when I go out for lunch. :)

The vase is nice and I do like the solid black stem, but I don't like the design of the stem itself, I like things for on the simpler side so if it had less going on on the stem then I would get that in a heart beat.

This is the base I would be looking at:

I bought a small egyptian bowl for it, fancy hose and razan hose. It was/is my first hookah. I was going to order a Mya QT but Mahir gave me this set up instead since the QT was out of stock.

Thanks for taking your lunch break to ship it out, I really appreciate it! Edited by Teganv

It is good to have a game plan, stops you from buying all sorts of stuff like I do :P As noted above, though, you would be surprised how much switching up the tray can do for looks of a hookah. You would be hard pressed to find any quality stuff that has white on it (outside of, say, a pear on a km), but, that doesn't mean you couldn't get it anodized or painted yourself. The only thing that would really be tricky is the tray. That would make it incredibly unique.

I'm definitely not opposed to painting something myself so it might come down to that. I was actually joking that I would get a trumpet vase, strip the paint off of it and then paint it myself, with rainbow stripes, but I have a feeling that would be too gay. :P

There is the white and black Razan hose's so that would go with a black and white set. I did actually originally want to do a black and white set up but like you pointed out, finding white hookah parts is not the easiest task in the world. I do like the pear design but I would rather get a black pear stem then a white, the white seems to be more of a pearl colour then a solid white. Edited by Teganv

Yeah that's true, plus, if you did plan on painting it, it wouldn't really matter anyways!
Very true. I feel it wouldn't be a good idea to paint the tray or stem though just because of the metal factor, and cleaning the outside. I can't say I have much experience with painting metal so I will have to look more into that. As far as painting the tray goes though, the heat from the coals and ash would be a factor, so I'm not sure it would be worth it. Sigh.

Yeah, the tray would have to be anodized, too much heat would just scorch any painted surface. . With metal, just make sure it's clean, then you prime it (usually two coats of primer if you want to make sure you have a consistent base to work from) and paint as you normally would. On a hookah, though, I would definitely want it to have a clear coat just to protect from washing it. The better option would probably be powder coating the stem, but, that is pricey.

Yeah in all reality it comes down to the cost of making a completely custom one of a kind or having a stem that possibly a bunch of people have but still could look really good with the setup, and you would just be paying for it and shipping. Over all buying a new stem that already fits with what I'm looking for would be cheaper really, since I would have to buy a new stem anyway (since my current one has been giving me issues no matter how much I clean it). So I guess I will be going with just buying a new stem and not bothering with painting it. Maybe in the future though when I have more money to spend.

all i can say is that the stealth black doesn't just come in that style i've seen it in like 4-5 different km styles and they all look good :)

but having a Custom hookah is always a lot of work and time consuming if u want it a special way.

but good luck and cant wait to see what u come up with

Couldn't you paint it with engine paint? I was thinking of painting my windcover to look like those fancy tri color ones.

Could paint with oven paint
Yeah I was thinking I could look at paint that is ment to stand up to high heat, but there would see be the cleaning aspect of it. Some paints you can't clean well at all.

I will have to look for those other black stems then, I haven't seen one in a shop in a while, but I will keep looking.

If I ever do get everything I want for this setup I will definitely be posting pictures. I will admit I was inspired by your orange setup and Chris' obsession with all things red for his setups haha.

If you like things on the simpler side maybe you could find a Lebanese stem.
I would look into Lebanese stems but aren't those the type that requires a male bowl? I just ordered my tangiers phunnel yesterday, and I wouldn't have enough money or really want to buy another bowl.

Whoah.... Is there really such a thing as too gay?
Of course there isn't. ^_^ Although some people would argue that.

May be you could look into the possibility of power coating it?

There is a guy (not on this forum) who got his KM powder coated in transparent gold. Cost him like 65 bucks.
I would be interested in seeing how that turned out. Sadly I don't think I would have the money for that since I would be having to get a new stem and couldn't just paint my current one. So the price of a new stem plus the price of painting it, wouldn't work for me sadly.

I got taken to an off-broadway show by two of my highschool classmates from the football team who fell in love and got married...it was called "Naked Boys Singing." It was too gay.

On topic, have you thought about getting the stem "dipped" painted? I don't know how to explain it but someone here knows what im talking about I'm sure
