atalanta
What twits. I snickered when I first read that. I had to refrain from snarking on someone who is getting Medicare and Social Security crying that ACA got the OK. Sorry, too many of my friends don't have healthcare right now because their jobs dont offer it or they have a preexisting condition.
â€On
Well, I normally open my doors to all my american hf friends...but if any of you were on that list you can't come anymore. Brb, just enjoying some healthcare.
gramps
While all of you are celebrating, I may lose my health insurance because of the law. Yep, I've worked my ass off for the same company for 36 years and my insurance has always been 100% paid for by my employer. Now it looks like the company can no longer afford to offer insurance. It's going to be cheaper for them to just pay the penalty. There's no room in my budget to pay for insurance, but I'll be in good company. Millions of Americans will be losing theirs, too. Thanks a bunch! This is what happens when amateurs are in charge.
atalanta
Maybe if they hadn't been fighting it since the 1950's we'd have free healthcare by now like a lot of other civilized countries. What I don't get, Romney is so against it but didn't he do the same thing when he was governor of Massachusetts? "They'll tell you what doctors you can go to" - ah, insurance companies do that already. You have to pick a provider from their list "They'll limit you" - insurance companies are FOR PROFIT not FOR PEOPLE. I worked in the "dear patient you're screwed. Have a nice day." department for a major provider. They suck. I was a temp but there was one claim that came across my desk several times in the time I was there. It was a teenage boy with gynomastia (tits). They wanted surgery to correct this. He was denied repeatedly because it was deemed "unnecessary". I got fed up and, against my supervisor's orders, stormed upstairs to the "doctors" and shoved it in his face to get it approved. From behind his big mahogony desk in his fancy corner office, he dismissed me like I wasn't fit to shine his shoe. I'd better stop or I'll start to sound like a battle between Rani and TheScottsman LOL
Skoozle
I guess it never occurred to anyone that those tweets may have been intentionally humorous and sarcastic. Kinda like "Man, It's hot here; Imma take a trip out to Death Valley to cool off." I know republicans and, trust me, none of them would consider moving to Canada. Canada is constantly used as a commi/socialist reference.
Chreees
Gramps- That sucks. I know the ACA isn't perfect by any means, but it's a step in the right direction. Kinks obviously need to be worked out so that it is a suitable program for all. Pat- Wow. I feel bad for that kid... Ashley- Maybe they were joking, but if you read the actual tweets, they seem pretty serious... Perhaps Fox News should put out an alert and remind our Republican conservative citizens that Canada is the LAST place they want to move if the ACA being passed pisses them off... This video explains ACA pretty well to me, for those who don't quite fully understand it and want to understand it better: http://www.acscan.org/content/affordable-care-actanimation/
TheScotsman
While all of you are celebrating, I may lose my health insurance because of the law. Yep, I've worked my ass off for the same company for 36 years and my insurance has always been 100% paid for by my employer. Now it looks like the company can no longer afford to offer insurance. Thanks a bunch! This is what happens when amateurs are in charge.
The IRS now gets all of your insurance info, billing, and medical info. What can go wrong with that? Your employer paid premiums will now be reported on your W2, and treated as income with an insurance credit offset. If you have a premium plan, you pay income tax on everything beyond the "credit", the value of which is determined by congress, and the IRS. Great idea How many Dr's have said they were considering early retirement to not deal with it? http://townhall.com/tipsheet/katehicks/2012/06/14/thanks_obamacare_83_of_doctors_surveyed_say_they_may_quit Looks like they aren't very happy, eh? Some have said they are going to go cash-money only, and no insurance - they can do that if they want Get a good Dr if you can pay for it! Some dolt in congress proposed a union for Doctors - now that is another astonishingly stupid idea. Several companies (GE for one of the biggest) have stated moving production out of the USA (GE medical imaging mfg, as one) will be the standard way to deal with the added costs of insurance. Chase out the good jobs, and buy the equipment from a nation that makes stuff cheaper, great idea. A whole load of new taxes on the "poor" Hey, didn't the messiah promise there wouldn't be one penny more? Oops, another promise broken, Oh, well. You still won't have insurance coverage if you are paying the penalty-you will just be broker. That's a good change. In the end, I am getting damn glad that the rest of you people get to deal with something as cocked-up as IHS! You deserve it! I have had to deal with gov't care for all my life I have resided in the USA, and from experience, I can tell you you don't want to get sick after February. On the good side, I think SCOTUS just handed the senate to the GOP, and presidency to Mittens.
gramps
If you have any free time, just for shits and giggles try to find a doctor who is taking new Medicaid or Medicare patients. I did that very thing last year after my 77 year old mother couldn't find a new doctor. We have tons of doctors and hospitals here in the Birmingham area because we have a medical school. I called 50 doctors at random from the phone book. Most were primary care physicians and the rest were various specialists. How many were taking new Medicaid or Medicare patients? NOT ONE. Yeah, your health care may be free (paid for by others), but if you can't find a doctor, you're still screwed. But let's put the discussion about health care aside and THINK about this. The Supreme Court just handed Congress a powerful new weapon they can use to make you do or buy anything they want. Once Congress has an inch, they always take a mile. Republicans are as bad as Democrats. Democrats in power: Buy an electric car or pay a tax. It's for the good of the country. Republicans in power: Buy a Bible or pay a tax. It makes families stronger. Republicans in power: A firearm is the best deterrent to home invasions. Buy one or pay a tax. Democrats in power: Do you own a firearm? It's dangerous; we'll take it off your hands or you get no health care. The list can go on and on limited only by a politician's imagination and what he thinks he can get away with. Watch and see. A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take everything you have.
TheScotsman
Refresh my memory again? Just how many people is the UK's system admitting to killing off over the last year, just to save the bucks? Here is where it's headed... a bit sooner than you expect. http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2012/apr/28/doctors-treatment-denial-smokers-obese You a Hookah, cigar, or whatever smoker? your gov't care will say you are a waste of money, go away and die somewhere. The gov't doesn't like how you live... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2111109/NHS-patients-refused-treatment-unless-change-lifestyles.html no care for you, go die somewhere. Like an ale? Got a few pounds... no medical care for you http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1550084/Hewitt-NHS-ban-on-fat-people-legitimate.html The model system you all seem to wish we had, the NHS, managed to kill off 130,000 patients by withholding care simply because they (some tosser at NHS) decided it was fine to do. After all... they needed the bed. Too bad the same jackasses that said we can't possibly have a voter ID verification... because the "poor" and "minorities" can't get the ID actually have the balls to tell us we all need to have insurance, and report such on our income tax. Think it's not going there in a v. short time? Just name me a single thing the gov't has run that did not become a giant clusterfuck in the first 30 seconds. Hmmm??? I'm waiting.... (crickets) still waiting. Nope, neither can I... can't think of any single thing the gov't doesn't turn into a disaster. messiahcare will be run by the same sort of people that are grabbing your sack in the airport security line. Hey, save some time... just cough for them. Hey, think the illegal aliens will get free care without insurance, and never report their penalty on their 1040? Duh. Oh, ya, if you think the tax they are collecting is going to pay for care for people that don't buy insurance, you need to read the bill to see what's in it. You are still uninsured, and responsible for the bills... and the tax which will be going into the general fund. Gotta pay for the next greens fee for the prez, you know.
