CO_hookah
I recently received a package in the mail, and I was hoping someone could ID what I received! Is anyone familiar with the kind of hookah? Can I even smoke out of it? It twists apart, and doesn't have a downstem... Also, the bowl is really freaking deep and massive. I'd guess it could easily hold 100 grams. According to the box, it's from Iran...? Thanks, everyone!
vendetta_revived
If you were thinking of smoking all that mu'assel you have in the picture by using that hookah, then I am sorry to inform you man, but that hookah is not meant to be used with modern mu'assel as far as I know. In my knowledge, it is to be used with really traditional stuff, like jurak or something. Certainly looks like an interesting piece though...the construction makes me want to say it's Indian, but I am not sure as I've not seen those etchings on an Indian hookah. Does the bowl screw apart btw?
Epoch
Getting that old pipe to smoke like a new one will need a few modifications. Like adding a downstem...

CO_hookah
Sorry for the double post, but it wouldn't let me edit my previous one, but for the record it came from Afghanistan.
Epoch
If nothing else, it would look pretty good sitting on display.
CO_hookah
That's what will probably end up happening. Or, I could over mark it and sell it on ebay. Is anyone even remotely familiar with the mint from Iran?? I didn't even know Iran had the industry... Edited July 1, 2012 by CO_hookah
antouwan
That hookah looks to be of northern African origins. Likely Morocco, as they favor all brass designs. You see them a lot in the Iberian peninsula for their proximity to northern Africa. As for the tobacco, the brand (transliterated as Quma/Qama/Qamy) seems to be an Iranian knock-off of Ajamy. I guess you could try it (not in that particular hookah). The results would be interesting. Best of luck.
Pavo21
I recommend you smoke it the tobacco not the pipe --- I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?v4df2q
