Satou
Is it just me or is procuring an old school coil burner like going on an 'epic' quest through multiple stores and their suggestions where to look? Just finding them is such a tedious task in it's self at the moment, Since only a few days ago ours decided it had enough of our lighting shenanigans and essentially did not turn on - no matter how many outlets we tried. No store - not even Target or Wal Mart carries an old school coil burner within their stores only the newer spiffy induction? tops which I have my doubts about . And I am not afraid to purchase items off of the internet but buying a single coil burner is like pronouncing to my family that HAY I AM AN ADDICT DERP and I am just not that patient to wait for something that menial. So I am curious where others get their coil burners if it is not the internet and if these induction stove tops work at all on lighting a coal just as well? SundayFundaysTV
Walgreens has been the only place I've been able to find them, my burner went out a few months ago and I feel your pain, I felt like I was on a quest going to multiple stores trying to find one, you would think big chains like Walmart and Target would have them. I would try to find another Walgreens location and see if that store has them.

Chreees
I don't quite get the difference between picking one up at a store and buying one off the internet?
Not to mention it may very well be cheaper. I'd say quit the hassle of trying to find one locally, get one online, and don't worry about what your family may think. It's something you need, it's something they know you use, so it shouldn't be a big deal. Whenever I need something, online is the FIRST place I check before going out, because half the time it can be had for cheaper than going to Wal-Mart or where ever else (if it's something that isn't needed right away and I can wait for it to be shipped). I get quite a bit of packages this way, yes, but I don't give a crap what my mailman or apartments manager think (many are left with her for me to be picked up). Here, if you do decide to buy online, I found these within 3 minutes (there may be something cheaper if you search further): http://www.walmart.com/ip/Proctor-Silex-Single-Burner-in-White/11445754 http://www.walgreens.com/store/c/maxi-matic-single-electric-bufet-burner/ID=prod6039619-product
Stuie
I have picked mine up over the years at walmart and walgreens. If you hit Walgreens right they have some $10 ones that come occassionally. I watch the Sunday Paper Ads. Replacement coil for a stove is $25 so I usually grab a couple.
Rani
I grab mine though amazon.com. $14.95 I believe last time I picked up a couple (a few months ago). If you're a Prime member two-day shipping is free. Of course, buy over $25.00 and shipping is free anyway, even if not two-day. 'Rani
romzz
Amazon is always my first stop, but if you don't feel like waiting and want to find something locally you should try an outdoors/sport goods store. A place that specialize in camping stuff, things of that sort.

boludo
Forget about the coil burner and get a hot plate. They last longer and you don't have to worry about coals falling through the cracks http://www.amazon.com/Maxi-Matic-ESB-301F-Cuisine-Single-1000-Watt/dp/B000B2WOWE/ref=sr_1_3?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1341253357&sr=1-3&keywords=hot+plate http://www.amazon.com/Aroma-AHP-303-Single-Plate-Black/dp/B0007QCRNU/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1341253428&sr=1-1&keywords=hot+plate
EternalSoil
If you go with a hot plate make sure to get the highest wattage you can. I believe I remember it taking longer and I don't think it would light coco coals in any acceptable length of time.
Stuie
I only use hot plate for japs... occasionally. I am not that patient of a person. Don't light Coconut Cubes on them. They warp the plate after a while, because of the light time needed.
Satou
I would think that a hot plate or an induction top burner would be extremely inefficient in comparison to the old school coil in lighting coco coals :I I will have peek at an other walgreens and if not just get it on the net and play the waiting game. Skoozle
I got mine at wallgreens and with all the stories I've been hearing lately about these crapping out, I want to go get a back up. I just don't remember which wallgreens I got it from If you get it online, support an HF Friend and get some other hookah stuff while you're at it. I got the hot plate as per Eric's recomendation after I complained about the coil burners dying relatively often. I have had my hot plate for over 2 years now and it is still working as new. Ohh, and I haven't notice a difference in cocos lighting time between the hot plate and the coil burner (I have the one in the first link, the white one). At the end, get what you think will work best for you. Mine was only a suggestion...

Pavo21
yeah i would love to see that as well because i know eric uses a hot plate i've seen it in the back its huge also, but i like the coal burners plus if u look in the box u can find a warrenty card for a year and they will send u back information on it and be set for that whole year if it goes before that. mushrat
Roses, but i doubt you have those there. Try discount type stores, they would be more likely to have the less popular type of burner. Also try yard sales, thrift stores, and junk shops.
