89justalex
Hello guys ! Few hours ago i was searching for some shisha when i found a stem on a romanian website ( this website is a little e-bay ) . I think the stem looks quite good and solid but idk if i should buy it or not. From those pics it looks old and a little rusty but that is my opinion. These were the only 2 pics of it. The price is about 90$ . I want to know if this is a quality stem and what should i do: buy it or not. Also, does anyone of you know what brand made this stem? 89justalex
I come with new information about the stem. I sent him (the guy who sells this stem ) a PM earlier and he answered. He told me that the stem is from copper. It is 26 cm high. Also, he told me that he buy it from India few years ago. That's all the information i have... Urloc
Well, if you want it to smoke... I would never buy a stem that may be rusty.
89justalex
Yeah. You're right my friend. I'm not sure if the stem is rusty or not. Can't tell from those shots. That was just my assumption. It may be clean, without rust...idk. I asked the seller to show me more pictures of his product..now i'm waiting for his answer... anyway, still dying to know what brand it is
vendetta_revived
Can't say much about the brand, but it is definitely of Turkish make. It is not an elmas pipe, but that doesn't mean that it won't be a good pipe. It doesn't have a purge valve as you can see though, so don't get it if you're not comfortable with your heat management. PS: Can you ask him where in India did he get this?
89justalex
i doubt i'll buy a Turkish hookah ( unless it's an Elmas ) . I also saw that it has no air valve so thats another minus imo. @vendetta: i sent him a PM. hope he will answer soon
mushrat
no air valve could mean its older, as in antique older. The downstem looks shiny and thats the biggest thing. The inside of the stem can be cleaned with a brush. Will he come down from the asking price?
vendetta_revived
Thanks. but I thought about it and I don' think it will help much....India is quite far from turkey. Also, let others chime in before you make a decision, because while it doesn't look like an elmas to me, I should tell you that I don't have a keen eye for Turkish hookahs.
I told him that i will offer 70$ ( shipment included ) for his stem but he said that he will not change the price. The whole price would be around 110-120 american $ ( the stem + shipping ) and, imo, is quite spicy. @Vendetta: i got an answer for your question. The seller told me that his father buy the whole hookah ( the vase got broken in time and the hose was sold separately ) from an old man from New Dehli. vendetta_revived
Well fuck. I live in new delhi and can't find a decent rig to save my life! That old man must have brought it to India from somewhere else. Thanks anyway, man!

mustang67n
That price is definitely high for the pipe. I'd say let it sit for a week or two then if it hasn't sold, message him again

89justalex
@Mustang & Pavo : i'll wait for sure ! Hope he will accept my offer ! No way i'm going to pay that sum of money for an old stem ! Here, in Romania there isn't such a big interest for expensive pipes. Most of the fellows buy chinese hookahs because they are quite cheap ( 20-30 $ ), so i'm sure that his stem will remain on sale for a long time.
you're right man ! it looks very nice and it is indeed way better than those chinese cheap metals. I had a chinese one and it lasted 2 months. But, that's what people from my country use to buy ( most of them..there are also guys who spend their money on quality stuff ) . The whole hookah thing isn't very popular in this part of the world. Anyway, i hope i can seal a good deal after all. I already own a small solid AF 28" and i'm really happy with it and an egyptian one. This would be the 3rd pipe for me and i really like the design. I went to a local hookah shop and i found a decent base. http://www.fumari.com/hookah-bases/large-glass-base It's like the blue one except that the one i saw today it has a painted lion instead of that flower, plant or whatever it is and the blue color is a little lighter. It costs 60 lei ( 20 $ ) so the price is ok imo. @pavo: i'll tell you guys what's going to happen with this deal. Hope i'll get it...but not at that price of course ! i find it way to big for that stem
Bawhee
haha, you know youre talking to I think the only regularly active european member (so far, hopefully you will stick around) hookah culture has to grow a lot more in europe to be on par with the US

Wait ! Wait ! did not see your flag mate ! thought you're american ! i'm so damn glad to see another european and we are quite close if we think at the geographical positions of our countries. don't worry ! i wish i could go far away from this forum and forget about its existence but i'm quite addicted ! i like the guys, the help you can get and so on. I'm not going anywhere ! As for the hookah culture from our old continent... well it's better than 5 or 6 years ago when you couldn't find even a decent hookah shop. We ( the europeans ) still have a long way to achieve the " hookah masters " title but i stay confident. For example, in my country, the sellers started to sell quality hookahs : Aladin ( you're an european so i'm sure that you know this german brand ), AF and Sahara. Also, i saw in a shop from my city ( Bucharest ) that they started to sell Vortex bowls and washable hoses. 2 bad they don't sell american tobacco : Fumari, Starbuzz, Tangiers. I can find only AF, Nakhla, Al Waha and Al Sultan.

89justalex
Came back with news. Unfortunately, the seller don't want to sell the stem anymore. I asked him what's the last price and he told me he is going to keep the stem because nobody offered him enough money. Well, that's 2 bad !
