Did My Al-Fakher Go Bad?

Recommended Posts

I have had a 250 gram Al-Fakher Double Apple tub for a little less than a month now. I think I might have left the zip lock bag in comes it open over night or something because it tasted awful when I smoked it last night. In fact, it was barely producing any clouds at all. I had to throw out the coal because it couldn't stand smoking it anymore. I smelled the shisha and it had a very chemical smell to it, kind of like rubbing alcohol. In fact it tasted just like it smelled so I know it's not my hookah. I live alone so I know that no one tampered with my shisha.

Is it common for shisha to go this bad this quickly? I taste was excellent a couple of days ago when I smoked last. As I said, I think it may have dried out because I left the bag somewhat open. Thanks!

That's odd. Leaving the bag open for a day or even two shouldn't have that dramatic of an effect on it I would think. In fact, some people actually prefer to dry out (soak up the juices with a paper towel) their AF. Did it smoke good for you, and now it isn't? If it never smoked good from the get-go, perhaps it was a bad batch. If not, then you probably unknowingly did something to attribute to the state it is in now. Have you changed up anything else you can think of? Coals you use, etc?

Thanks for your reply. No, I have no changed my coals. I have been using 3 kings for a while. I did put some pancake syrup and we'll see how well it smokes. I would say that the smoke has a metallic after taste to it when it went bad. I can't think of anything I would have done to the shisha Edited by Oshikuru

Yeah, pancake syurp. Google search hookah and PCS, you'll see people using it as a substitute for glycerin and it's worked for them. Anyway, I just did it and it def. produced some clouds but the same metallic/chemical/tobacco taste it still there. Thinking I'm just going to throw the thing out.

i get nothing from google-ing hookah and pcs

Expand "pcs" into pancake syrup and then search. I'm still not convinced though. I searched hookah and milk and found people who say it's the only way to do it.

Hose is washable. Everything in my hookah has been washed. I can only conclude that it is def. the shisha. This is the only shisha I have at the moment (besides my Hydro, which is still good). Like I said, I'm just going to toss it out and get a new batch. I don't know why it went bad so quickly.

I had a similar thing happen to me (read here). Took a few days break from it, seemed to be ok.

You'd be surprised, I know people and have read of people putting flavored syrups (blueberry, strawberry, boisonberry, etc.) in their shisha and getting amazing results from it. Some people use it instead of glycerin and candy oils to make their own shisha, I've been tempted to try it myself.

doesnt glycerin provide the clouds tho?
Yes, you can always mix both. Mixing your own shisha with blueberry syrup and a bit of glycerin is delicious.

Not necessarily. Some of the more traditional mo'assels don't even use glycerin and simply are a mix of tobacco, molasses, and flavoring.

While you're at it, try and get Nakhla's Double Apple instead. A much better double apple flavor, in my opinion.
